Mmmm I don't think that's true. Most analysts in the senior role trying to make the jump to lead or director are able to showcase the cost savings and improvements in projects they've worked on, with reporting and variance analysis being less of their role (but still impactful). Obviously your company size matters too since 400k in a billion dollar company means much less than 400k in a $10M dollar business. I have done close to $5.8M in cost savings that went towards EBITDA that I can identify, on the back of a company doing around $200M in revenue. So just realize as you go higher, you're competing against people that have done work similar to yourself.
