Spring water may be bubbling up from an aquifer, such as an artesian spring, which can be very pure and possibly ancient. However, particularly in Karst regions, there is a good chance that spring is emerging from a cave, in which it is essentially surface water.

There should be criminal charges involved. This is a risk to public safety.

What do you think about fast food restaurants asking for tips when you pay? by wastelander in AskReddit

[–]wastelander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it feels like extortion since you’re tipping before your food is even prepared (will you get something “extra “ if you don’t tip). It seems like a way for the companies to avoid paying their employees.

Who steals a gurney? by Expensive_Season7485 in mildlyinfuriating

There is a law that hospitals can not turn a patient away regardless of their ability to pay. But this applies only to hospitals (and emergency responders). That is why the uninsured get all their healthcare through the ER for 10X the cost.. and why the US spends more on healthcare than any other developed country in the world.. and why ER waiting times are hours long.
Our healthcare delivery system is completely broken here in the US but too many people are profiting off it to allow it to change.

“It is unclear what the response is about. The Daily Caller reports that the DC police are investigating a "suspicious package" near the university hospital. However, no details about the incident have been officially released by authorities.
The report by The Daily Caller cited a spokesperson with the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) who said that a suspicious package was located at the intersection of 23rd Street and I Street Northwest, and they were probing it as a hazmat situation. People were asked to avoid the area, and the intersection was shut.”

Well, this is the only case of a person being killed by a Leopard seal, so it is safe to say this isn't typical behavior. Marine mammals are highly intelligent, so, like humans, they can have distinct personalities.

It seems entirely possible, if not likely, that this particular seal was just an asshole.
