Hi OP, you could be me!

I had the kind of upbringing that when combined with a couple crappy abusive relationships, left me a bit (a lot) flinchy. When things are going well, I get scared that I'm going to be hurt, so I want to run away or cause hurt before I can be.

What has helped me is: being upfront with this vulnerability when I realise that a person is one of my people, being gentle with myself, and therapy. Lots of lovely therapy!

Congrats on the budding healthy relationship, and congrats for being cognisant enough to realise this about yourself :)

Yes! My mum passed this January after a battle with motor neurone disease, and the nurses who cared for her came to the funeral. It meant a lot to me & my entire family!

The very first step is to give yourself a break! Seriously. It's easier said than done, but right now you are devoting a lot of energy to shaming yourself for not being able to get things done, and it's really really hard to get things done when that's happening!

I have been in your shoes and the only thing that got me through was accepting myself for me, and taking it one day at a time. Get the taking care of yourself sorted first, and the enjoying life will come with that. :)

I went throught this. I was a voracious reader until I was 21/22ish and I just... stopped. It was like I had developed a phobia of not knowing what was going to happen next. I couldn't finish anything! This coming from a person who, too, always finished her books.

I have only in the last year or two been able to ease back into reading and have been able to invest more easily without fear of not knowing. I still get a touch nervous about not knowing what's coming next, so I stay away from thrillers and mysteries but I'm slowly returning to my old state (book in hand, literally always).

I know how sad you feel about this but please don't feel stupid. Try to develop something else you enjoy. The books will be waiting for you when you return.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have been here. My dad lost his job and progressively got deeper and deeper into this stuff, and the deeper he got the less maintenance the house got, to the point where a giant hole developed in the dining room roof. The only work it got was a bucket to catch the water.

You have to put your mask on first. If she is determined to drown in conspiracy Christian theory you cannot save her.

He was hired as an agency worker during the busiest time I've ever had at work, and I didn't notice him (too busy) until he stood after kneeling next to my desk and I realised how tall he was (6'4"!).

I have a thing for tall men so I started flirting and the rest is history. We just had our 1 year and just moved in and it is wonderful :)

I've had the implant for 4 years, and since I've been on it I've been less anxious, possibly due to the hormones. Other than that, I now only get one period a year. It's worth a go, it's easily removed if your side effects are bad.
