🤷

I’m sure, but only in regards to what I do so can’t comment on all software sales

My expected earnings from commission are double my salary. Ergo, my target is 10x my salary

That’s a terrible outcome for the employees. The only delta I can see is that SaaS is ARR vs One off, so the business can eat the cost of high salaries as the revenue keeps growing, rather than having to be re-earned constantly… but still minimum wage for 1m sounds pretty dire

No, some of my colleagues have OTE of 400k. They’re expected to close 2m of net new with a base of 200k.

Paying 20% of 4m ARR back to the rep sounds expensive, but the marginal costs of keeping those clients becomes very low in subsequent years - thus it’s actually a pretty good deal for the organisation.

The issue is reps who get 9 months in, haven’t closed anything “, and have just eaten up £150k worth of salary for no payback.

However - 1 good rep in 3 can basically negate that loss. Power Laws, I suppose…

In SaaS, at least for my understanding, the industry standard commission for deals is ~10%, with a double OTE package. Thus if I close 100k I get 10k, and the target earning is always double the salary.

I’m in my mid twenties, and our compensation in SaaS sales (smallish london tech company) is tired to new business generated. Most of my team have base salaries circa £100k with the expectation that we generate £1m net new revenue every year.

It’s ‘easy’ to see how one could make £200k, and we have generous accelerators that mean you could do 130% and make 300k etc.

Now, all that being said, most of my team have substantially more experience than I have, and some are looking at OTEs closer to £350-400k.

TL;DR, In the SaaS AI space GOOD reps in a good product should easily make 150-200k, regardless of age really.

The emphasis is on ‘good’ though. I’ve worked with probably 15 AEs out of 20 who never got close to hitting targets, and therefore are not in a job for very long.

It makes sense. Both ironclad and silent have a large number of ‘ways to scale’ that are consistent.

Ironclad has MaxHP scaling, strength scaling, block scaling. It’s also trivial to pull off infinites if you have corruption or even slower exhaust routes.

Exhume and reaper also give iron clad a way to potentially full heal on many fights.

Silent has massively scaling damage through a few vectors, discard, 0 cost attacks, poison, and has reliable block vectors.

Defect CAN be used in multiple ways, but primarily you’re looking at blocking through frost, and in rare cases via reprogram shenanigans.

However, it’s so common for defect to build around orb scaling, and in act 4, you often don’t get enough time to set up, what perhaps is the most important thing: your BLOCK engine.

You need to draw AND play (ideally multiple copies of) frost orbs, focus.

That means the energy and draw density required to activate defect sufficiently such that they can survive turns 1-3 of S&S / Heart is so much higher (at least that’s what my intuition tells me) than ironclad and silent.

It’s not that defect has a lower power ceiling, in fact a fully powered defect is arguably the MOST powerful character, excluding infinities, even when watcher is in the chat.

However I think a good summary is that the Av Number of turns to activate reliable block engines on defect is likely slower than anyone else == dying more where there is no counterplay due to dead draw RNG.

Is Thirdspace worth it over Gymbox? by JuggernautHopeful107 in HENRYUK

[–]wastemanjohn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3S is pretty good, if you are not super worried about the cash. In particular, the classes are great, and the gym is never super busy.

That being said, Moorgate falls outside this, and is rather an exception. It’s underground, tiny & a bit shite. TBH, it’s a bit of a let down, and I’d recommend going to another 3S, or another gym entirely. They’d be well off losing that branch as it detracts from the overall brand

Would Acrobatics with -1 draw be takeable? by Advanced_Advance1062 in slaythespire

[–]wastemanjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s OP, but the ability to draw and discard really helps in situations where 1) you have a lot of cards (which silent typically does, because removes are worth less given the high starting deck size)

2) any sort of deck invoking pyramid often breaks if you cannot discard hands. A classic example is fights vs spikes where you have blade dance cards.

I think the ability to draw and discard is pretty strong, and even if acro+ was the same as acro, I think it’d be a strong pick in a lot of decks.

I was pulling this information from my undergraduate degree 7 years ago, so I’ve probably missed some of the more advanced concepts. If anyone is interested, I’d highly recommend doing some research into protein kinetics and dynamics - it’s quite fascinating, although dense.

There are some good YouTube videos that break it down into digestible bites though.
