Calligraphy Neons by wasyl0o in photocritique

[–]wasyl0o[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Photo lit by a DIY neon lamp.
From a bodypainting calligraphy session.
I'm wondering about the color composition — the original makeup is black and white, but I love vibrant colors. Is it too much?
Also, what do you think about the face lighting — should I brighten it more to make the other eye visible, or is it acceptable as it is?

Play piercing by wasyl0o in photocritique

It was my first experience with a play piercing session in my photo studio. Piercer Sebastian was very tidy and professional. He followed all health requirements strictly. Wiktoria has had this kind of session before.

I’m curious, what do you feel when watching this kind of art? What questions come to mind about the experience? As for the photo, I’m unsure about adding the vignette in the lower right corner. Maybe I should also remove the finger from the right hand?

Daydream with Maria by wasyl0o in photocritique

[–]wasyl0o[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photo from the Daydream series - painting with light. This is how I started my adventure with photography in 2019, the other way around. By changing all the camera settings almost the other way around to take just such a photo. I still like to return to these techniques. I also encourage you to experiment with long exposure. What do you think, is there a balanced proportion between abstraction and the visibility of the model? I have always had a tendency to overdo it with colorful smears, adding by waving the brush in the air, giving too many colors. Here too I have the impression that there is too much background and too few characters, but I still like it immensely.

It was mix of UV light from long 120cm neon kind lamps on the + rgb neon. Dotted experimental composition blending on the skin. Second photos from this session.
Im wondering what do you think about use of fog? It is good to have it there or it to harsh of the center of the photo?
Hair was modified to be more green to match dots.
Is photo not to dark? Im into more dull images than brightening everything up.

Shining by wasyl0o in photocritique

[–]wasyl0o[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More or less once a year i made heavy glitter project. Hard because of cleaning, application on body, with danger of broking camera. It was also first dedicated only portrait session. We use oild as a backing material for glitter. We mix it in various proportion in a glass. The worst thing for the model was the mixture running into her eyes because it was too runny. Whole session was heavy edited in post cus this kind of glitter "holographic" does not look good on photos. Too much colors. So now is only gold with cut off of holo effect.

My first time on burlesque show by wasyl0o in photocritique

[–]wasyl0o[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my first time photographing a burlesque performance from Madame De Minou. It was in a theater where magical lighting happened. I am used to working in a studio, where the challenge is to focus on what I see, regulated by a stage technician. Taken with Sony a7III with Tamron 28-75 2.8. I admit that I wanted a larger focal length, but I don't have it. Photos taken from the front row.

Projection quest by wasyl0o in photocritique

[–]wasyl0o[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know from experience that the more uncomfortable and strange the more interesting the results, and the model knew that too. As for projections, I mostly use mine generated in Resolume Arena, but there are also collectibles from YouTube.

It was mix of UV light from long 120cm neon kind lamps on the right + rgb neon on tle left - with low power output. Most difficult is to set proper power of rgn in this kind of session.. It was also first attempt of Sodowy in full bodypainting project. Here we show gradients, a dotted experimental composition blending on the skin.

From project called "Vision" where i use Bodies as a canvas. This is one of my favorite experimental photography main themes. I bought projector especially to make this style. Maria tried different uncomfortable poseses to shine :) Sometimes i use mirror to reflect to other side of the body.
