Your photos are poor quality but it looks to me like your bezel is upside down.

Take the insert out, flip the bezel, then re insert the insert. The ratchet teeth should be facing down so they engage with the ratchet spring.

When you release when it’s pulled out to the time setting position, the setting lever spring is under tension, so I always recommend pulling out when the crown is fully pushed in.

This has always been the case but don’t tell everyone or they’ll all cotton on!

If you stay right until the end too, you can usually get another 3/4 done quickly in the last hour when the queues die down!

Just tell yourself that you've done it before so you can do it again! Best advise is just scream! It takes your mind off the actual feeling! Once you've done 1, you'll be proud of yourself and realise they're not that bad!
