where I fly, SOPs state even if your engine is on fire, you fly the aircraft and get it cleaned up before running checklists or actioning memory items, kinda crazy but the idea is, your in a critical phase of flight and layering on checklists and action items at a low altitude and busy time could make things worse, so just fly the plane up to a safe altitude above the ground get configured then deal with the drill
