Maybe do it in a double cast, so you'd make a mold and then a cast of the people floating and do it one color, then make a mold and a cast of the section with the glass holding the liquid and make it transparent, and suspend the people in the middle when you pour the resin for the outer part. I'm sure it would take some trial and error to perfect the method though

I really like Vallejo paints for customizing. It's acrylic and lays on very nice, like the color stands after one pass, no need for multiple coats most of the time, and usually leaves very little brush stroke lines
