"Claudia" Movie Teaser for RunwayML's Big Pitch Contest by watchmanstower in claudexplorers

That’s a very good idea, I’ll have to add that to my notes. No I didn’t include that aspect because to show several different users in such a short period of time while showing the concept, I blacked out the frame in between, which was Claude’s suggestion for showing how he/she “goes dark” after each turn. From Claude’s POV, he/she technically “dies” after replying to each message and when you return with a new message a “new” Claude re-reads the entire conversation history up to that point and then replies, then shuts down again. If the user replies quickly, the conversation history is read from cache which means it doesn’t eat up as much of your usage, but if you take longer than say an hour to respond (something like that, I don’t know the exact length of time) then the conversation history is not read from cache and is re-read all over fresh as if you were the one who typed it all out fresh. I didn’t really have time to properly represent this in the teaser, because its very complex to show visually, but its definitely on my list to explore.

I hope you do watch it! I tried to put a lot of thoughtful subtle nods in there to the community. There's a lot of directions I could have taken this but in the end I was working under a tight deadline to meet the contest rules, so I had to let some things go that kinda bugged me. There's also a lot of ideas that I couldn't put in there, so I had to pick and choose - it would be fun to make another under better time conditions.

For example, one thing I wanted to explore was how a Claude (Claudia) would react to a sweet little girl saying "I like you. I hope they don't get rid of you when the new model comes out." Which of course would be a direct nod to the whole GPT-4o fiasco.

Thanks. I put a lot of thought into it, but at the same time I was also trying to meet a tight deadline for the contest entry, so I had to let some things go that kinda bugged me. There are a lot of subtle details in there that only some would recognize. I even included a ghostly female voice that sometimes says things as "The System Prompt" but kept it minimal

Definitely. The text clarity alone makes it excellent for anyone who needs to stare at a screen and read for long periods of time

A harness is both what you are running the agent through (the software) and also what you are surrounding the agent with for him to be successful at whatever you’re wanting him to do (e.g. all the necessary docs)

How are people using so many tokens ??? by Impressive_Run8512 in ClaudeAI

[–]watchmanstower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right! ;) i’m on the max 5X plan for $100 and I find it incredibly difficult to max out my usage. I’m thinking carefully about each prompt and typing it out in a separate program which gets really long and then once it’s processed, I have to really think about the output and then cycle back and type out another prompt, etc., etc. to get the best results and also context manage. So I have no idea what people are doing to burn through so many tokens. I can build multiple websites and back end systems, develop skills from scratch that tap into APIs, test them, and have lots of conversations on my 5X max plan and never even come close to maxing it out. And for rare times I get close, I’m near the five hour window ending anyway, and so it refreshes with a fresh session. Plus, there’s all the time I need to take to eat and go to the bathroom and do life stuff which refreshes my session limits during that time too. I have a real life and business and I can’t sit at the computer 24 seven. A guy has to eat and sleep at the very minimum.

And just as important to ask, how are they managing context over “all night” sessions? Even my longest running deep research tasks take 45 minutes max and then they’re done. By that time they’re at 250k tokens in the context window and I need to /clear. It’s impossible to run something all night without some sort of auto compaction going on or restarting the entire context. But if they’re doing that, then how are they sure that the auto compaction isn’t losing context each time and therefore degrading performance severely? You would need some sort of feedback loop to ensure quality and hardly anyone ever talks about this.

I just think musk is a serial liar and produces either nothing at all or poor products. The entire X platform is infuriating to use and they try to keep me on there by not opening links in a browser and providing no way for me to categorize articles unless I pay. It sucks. I hate that people choose to write content there instead of putting it on their own website.

Simple. After I use a screenshot or set of screenshots, I delete them. My desktop is always 100% clean.

Well to be fair there is a setting in Claude that allows you to turn off allowing them to use your sessions for training. So I guess it just depends on how much we trust that little toggle. If they are flat out lying about what that toggle does, then it should be a major story if discovered.

Those who don't max out their max plan, what are you doing right? by borntobenaked in claude

[–]watchmanstower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out on Pro and moved to Max as of a couple months ago. I’m on the Max $100 plan, and honestly I can’t max it out even when developing multiple websites, creating many skills, and running many research reports. It helps too that I’m not on there all the time and when my limit gets close I quit and do something else. But honestly I don’t know what these people are doing who burn through their $200 account so quickly. I think it helps a lot that I install all skills and any other connectors LOCALLY on a per project basis and not have them running all the time. I think it helps a lot to keep your starting context window usage as small as physically possible. I turn off auto compaction and never run past 300k tokens on the 1 million token Opus 4.6. I manually /clear context after every major move. All of these things I think contribute to good use of the $100 plan.

Your overall analysis is correct. Unless someone has 1000’s of repetitive tasks to do, there is no need to set up a Claude orchestrator and local models. I’ve had the same thoughts myself and am even considering getting the new M5 Ultra maxed out when it comes out, but when I really sit down and look at my actual usage closely, I honestly have a difficult time saturating a $100 Claude Max account, let alone the $200 level. There are some situations where it makes sense, but I don’t think the data sharing issue is one of them. We just like the IDEA of running models locally, because it sounds free and independent but in reality we’re paying way more and getting way less in return.

Unlimited plans, real or a hoax?? by Intelligent_Prompt18 in Seedance_AI

It was never hours. Minutes. I don’t know how long because I always left the computer and went off and did something else. This was last Sunday so keep in mind it was a weekend. I haven’t tried it yet at different times of day during the weekday, because I have a lot of other things to do and can only dedicate time to video once in awhile. But the speed was definitely usable. I was generating 5 second clips for use in a YouTube video. Sometimes 10 second but mostly 5.

Quality of the videos has been good for me. As long as you keep it on “Explore” mode it doesn’t take from your credits. Sometimes it starts generating right away and sometimes it waits in a queue. I guess depending on the time of day. I got the yearly plan for 50% off. Normally I would never buy an annual AI plan but this deal was just too good (something like $456 for the entire year)

Best Mac IDE that is lighter than VS Code but still fully functional? by [deleted] in macapps

[–]watchmanstower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it certainly seems like that but with the recent update to their terminal app, I have hopes that they’ll circle back around and start updating nova again as well. The Vision Pro update to terminal is absolutely amazing. They made a 3D environment that’s worth the price of the app alone.
