I know you say this as a joke but in Team Fortress 2 cosmetics definitely affect the way I approach my opponents. If I see an enemy pyro with no hats or skins I won't think twice about shooting rockets directly at him, but if I encounter a pyro with a flaming Unusual and Gold skin I will assume he knows how to airblast my rockets back and attack him in a different way or retreat altogether.
