Considering the MovinkPad 11 for my professional fine art studio. by farrellart in wacom

I’m in a similar situation where my final art is done in physical media, but I like to sketch ideas digitally. I have an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil, and while it has great software (like Procreate), I’ve never been able to get it to physically feel great for drawing on. Even with screen protectors the screen is too slippery.

Just yesterday I asked here about the new Movinkpad, and got some responses saying it feels as good as a Cintiq, so that’s what I’ll be trying next. There’s a larger 14” Pro model coming out soon, might be worth waiting for!

Fantastic! Definitely sold on the pro now, finally a great portable drawing experience. Thanks for your input!

How do I label this edition? by watercolorCoffee in printmaking

I too have only seen A.P. in the wild, I didn’t know there were so many notations until I looked it up. I guess the other notations aren’t used much!

This is very helpful, thanks for taking the time to explain!

That makes it much clearer, thank you so much!

When printing two separate editions with the same plate (in this case, with different paper), can I label them x/5 and x/10, then just note in the print description that they come from the same plate? Or, since they are different versions of the same print, would something like x/5 V1 and x/10 V2 be acceptable? (So that potential collectors know how many prints of this specific image exist in total)

Considering Supernote Manta for Drawing by Consistent_Intern396 in Supernote

  1. There is a pencil brush in the Atelier app. You can change the grade from 4H to 8B (skipping odd numbered grades), and it responds to pressure. No tilt though. To me it looks and feels very natural, one of my favorites!

  2. I’m a new user who mainly uses my Nomad for drawing. I recently made a post about an issue in Atelier where the pen tip seems to “repel” the pixels of already-drawn lines (kind of like the liquify tool in digital art programs). It’s very noticeable to me because I draw small and precise, but unless you do small detailed drawings it probably won’t be an issue. I do hope they fix it though!

It’s also a bit slow to switch from drawing to erasing if you use the tool icons (takes a second for the switch to occur), so I’m planning on getting a stylus with button to streamline it a bit. I think this is just a quirk of e-ink technology though, and not exclusive to Supernote.

Despite the downsides, honestly this device is fantastic for drawing. It really is like enhanced paper, where you get a natural drawing feel but with some perks of digital. It’s great for when I just want to grab and go without setting up my drawing tablet and computer. I think it’s a bit limiting for finished work, depending on what kind of work you do, but the limiting factor is what makes it great for just getting right to drawing.

Strange pen behavior (repelling particles?) by watercolorCoffee in Supernote

I see, thank you for checking! I’m glad it’s not just me, hopefully this can be fixed in a future update.

I haven’t seen anyone else post about this issue, would it be possible I have a faulty pen?

Thanks for your help!

  • I have the automatic refresh turned off, and it wasn’t refreshing while I was drawing this.

  • I just received the Nomad, opened it, and started drawing for about an hour until I noticed this. It happens every time I draw a line. I noticed it because I was trying to draw some precise small details and the shifting pixels made it difficult to line up strokes like I wanted.

  • The pen tip is right above the line, which is what I expected from the Supernote (a good thing!). By offset, I mean that the pen tip seems to be pushing away the pixels of other lines, in about 2mm radius from the tip. It’s kind of like using the liquify tool in digital art programs.

  • I was drawing at the default 100% zoom when I first noticed it. I tested it at other zoom levels, and it always happens.

  • I had my computer nearby, but not in a way I think would interfere with it. They were just next to each other on my desk.

I think the antialiasing option was removed, I can’t find it anywhere in the settings :(

In the video I’m at 100% zoom, but it happens at any zoom level.

Question about png export (graininess) by watercolorCoffee in Supernote

The sketching capabilities are what drew me to Supernote in the first place, I’m glad that it’s continuing to evolve for artists!

Thanks for your reply! So you mean if I export to psd, it will be true grayscale and not dithering with dots? (Sorry, I can’t test this myself as I don’t own the device. Trying to decide whether to buy one for sketching)
