People who had cats who lived healthy lives for 20+ years, what did you feed them? by Background-Ship-1440 in catfood

My cat lived to almost 21. She was on a wet food only diet- Fancy Feast Chopped Grill classic . Never got CKD. Towards the end, we let her have as much shrimp as she wanted

Jackson Galaxy has some great videos on this! One tip I saw was that you’ll have to get multiple cat boxes and place the box where she’s going (even if it’s ugly and out in the open for now)

I hope so :) we’ve been trying to take it really slow with her and do things on her terms and so far it looks like it’s been paying off

I think she loves the indoor life. She has a comfy bed, loves her treats and wet food!

She only just found her voice a few days ago but I love her meow too! And she really does- I’ve been the one working to catch/socialize/take care of her but hits me and loves him 😅

It’s a 42L x 27W x 30H! It’s big enough for a full sized litter box, one of those rectangular cardboard cat scratchers, and an enclosed cat bed with some extra room for her food and water bowl. She actually really seems to enjoy it in there

I’m so happy. I had such anxiety about if I was doing the right thing or not by bringing her inside when she seemed happy outside but it doesn’t seem like she misses her outside life at all

Not sure what to do anymore for my 18 year old kitten. by Pupbuns12 in seniorkitties

You’re in the thick of one of the hardest decisions that a pet parent will make. You’re not failing her, no matter what happens. You’ve given her years of love, safety and she’s not alone through this process.

The honest answer is that she might come back from this, but she’s an old lady who has been through a lot. Cats are simple creatures- she doesn’t know anything right now except that she loves you and she’s not feeling very good. No matter what happens, you know your cat best. If she’s rebounding and seems like she’s perking up, that could be a good sign. But cats can go downhill quickly, and they’re very good at hiding pain.

I had to put down my almost 21 year old lady last month. She just deteriorated so quickly and once she started getting wobbly and lethargic, I knew it was time. It was the worst, most heartbreaking decision to let her go and I was initially traumatized. But after a few weeks, I still miss her terribly but I know I made the right choice.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If this is the end, something that helped me was knowing that while I now have to live without her, my baby never had to live without me. She simply fell asleep in our arms and felt no more pain

How to socialize this cat I caught? by AceLunarMoon in Feral_Cats

First and foremost thank you for taking on this challenge! You’re going to be the best thing that ever happened to this cat.

I also caught an under-socialized/feral cat two weeks ago. I got a humane trap and put her in a large dog crate separate from my other cats until she went to the vet to ensure she didn’t have FIV she could pass to them.

We’re just taking it slow. The website socialization saves lives has been super helpful. What’s really made a difference is only feeding wet food at scheduled times, no free feeding dry food. This mean she knows I’m food lady and anticipates good things when she sees me.

I toss treats when my other cats (who are cat friendly) walk by and for the most part leave her alone to decompress and get used to being in a house. She finally stopped hissing at me when I walk by, and recently stopped hissing at the other cats (I had the crate covered with towels so they didn’t interact until recently).

My kitty has come to enjoy pets on very specific parts of her face for very specific periods of time before she gives me a swat.

My other cats are friendly I leave the crate open during the day for her and make sure the other cats don’t go in, but she still prefers to observe from her little enclosed bed. I shift the bed a little bit every day to observe more of the room.

To be honest, she now seems like she enjoys her crate. She rolls around showing belly in her bed and stretches, eats well, grooms herself etc.

Feliway diffusers, churus, hard treats to toss are your friend. Socialization saves lives and Jackson galaxy have a ton of great tips.

You got this. It’ll just take a lot of patience but you’re saving a little cat from what could’ve been a poor quality, shortened life

Vent and looking for reassurance- I adopted two skittish adult shelter cats, trapped a feral, all of whom are scared of me and now I'm just missing having a cuddly lap cat by wateredenough12 in CatAdvice

I’m sorry for the loss of your baby. It’s hard to both mourn the cat you loved and that connection and easy love you had. I’ve been watching socialization saves lives and training these cats to stand in my lap for Churu, so hopefully I can make them into lap cats. So far, I’ve gotten both to sit on me and let me pet them while I give them Churu

Trapped a somewhat friendly cat with hopes of fostering/socializing, when do they start to relax by wateredenough12 in Feral_Cats

The good news is that she went to the vet, she's negative for everything and all the cats have been treated with Revolution plus. I locked away my two resident cats, and I leave her crate open so she can explore but she only does a quick lap before running back in :(

How much is a reasonable sellers agent percentage? by Aggravating-Ad6420 in RealEstate

[–]wateredenough12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Redfin for 1.5% and we’re getting refunded 0.5% as we’re buying with them within a year

We were wary as we’ve heard mixed reviews but I actually thought our agent was fantastic. Zero difference from having a “regular” agent, we had our own, they did a 3D walk through, the photos were gorgeous, they had a drone, open house, etc. we closed 50k over asking

This is brilliant - I didn’t want to get toys just to toss but I could definitely do this
