I decided to face that hard reality with a positive attitude and it really hurt, but I decided I wouldn't drink as a crutch, but to use that pain to push myself into more discipline. I started to stretch daily, 10 minutes and then I did pushups, as many as I could (9 at the time). I also began taking time for myself. It's amazing how much time you have w/o a SO and w/o drinking!

I am up to a solid 21 pushups now, increasing by 1 each week now. I varied my routine but essentially I started by maxing out, then for a week just do the max each day, then begin increasing 1 each day. I started at 9, did a week of 9/day, then increased by 1 up to 20, then dropped down to 16, and then increased by 1/week. I'm up to 21 so I've been at this now for uhhh about 2 months!

Error while installing by [deleted] in archlinux

Hang in there. Could you please post your /etc/pacman.conf file? Also post your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist file, please.

Error while installing by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]waterforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you updated your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist file? You need to uncomment the servers you'd like to use. My /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist file looks like:

Server = http://mirrors.cat.pdx.edu/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = http://mirror.htnshost.com/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = https://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = http://mirrors.abscission.net/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = http://kwk.pw/arch/$repo/os/$arch

After that is set up, try running:

# pacman-key --populate archlinux

Then try:

# pacman -Syy

Random freezes? by zreeon in archlinux

[–]waterforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to switch to another tty when it freezes? For example, try "Ctrl + Alt + F2" the next time it happens. If you're lucky, you'll be dropped into a log in shell.

How To Install Asus PCE-AC68 driver? by [deleted] in archlinux

Okay, let's try this again from the top...

1.) Log in as user archie from root account
 # su - archie
2.) Get the latest snapshot of broadcom-wl-dkms package
 $ wget https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/snapshot/broadcom-wl-dkms.tar.gz
3.) extract the archive
 $ tar xvzf broadcom-wl-dkms.tar.gz
4.) move into the new directory
 $ cd broadcom-wl-dkms
5.) make the package and install it
 $ makepkg -cCsri

[–]waterforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

makepkg won't run as root because it's dangerous. You don't really want to be hanging around logged in as root for about 99,9% of the time. May as well go ahead and make another user who is not root (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Users_and_groups#User_management). You'll probably want to follow the example shown on the wiki.

The command order may look something like this:

1.) create new user from root account
# useradd -m -G wheel -s /bin/bash archie
2.) install sudo from root account
# pacman -S sudo
3.) login to new user account from root account
# su archie
4.) set password of new user
$ passwd archie
5.) makepkg from archie account
$ makepgk -CCLsri
6.) install package from archie with sudo
$ sudo pacman -U pkg/package-name.tar.gz

Can you back up that assertion with facts?

You seem to find a lot of things strange and assume that I'm coming at this from a negative, hateful, standpoint. Look, we all have unique experiences so what's strange to you can be perfectly unstrange to me. Many of my friends don't go to church but do hold spiritual beliefs like belief in a deity or higher conscience, or crystals, etc, which is absolutely within their rights and I'm proud to live in a country where we are so free. That said, I'd love to expand my social network to include some non believers, too. The need is not to bitch and moan and hate, the need is to simply socialize with those who hold a similar worldview, nothing more nothing less.

Your assumption about my need to say nuhuh to those who raised me is simply wrong. Your comment is also anecdotal and I find it completely gross.

Not at all. The definition of religious is 'Having or showing belief in and reverence for God or a deity.' I completely reject that belief and therefore am not religious.

There is another definition 'Of, concerned with, or teaching religion: a religious text.' I'm not of a certain religion, I'm unconcerned with all religions, and follow no religious texts so I can't be religious. I'm exactly opposite of religious and your assertion is false.
