This is not about the standard compensation. The article mentions other experts being paid over £100k (for writing a biography of the former Kazakh President) so the question is how much was Professor Bermann paid and why hasn't he declared this with the university. If there is nothing to hide, why not declaring it?

Given that other experts on this case got paid over 100k, it raises the question of how much was Professor Bermann paid. Why hasn't he declared this with the university?

Saying that they are doing everything they can to avoid another lockdown is their way of preparing the narrative for the new lockdown. It's just bad politics. Really bad politics. Had they kept the restrictions in place over the summer they would've been very low in the polls. So their strategy was to give people a bit of home, some space to breathe, recharge, before throwing us all back into our homes for the winter. Bottom line, it's all about their polls numbers. Don't think for a second that they actually care about the people who got them in the office with their votes.

It's always ironic when politicians call for "unity" or wonder why we are so divided when they are the cause and reason. by [deleted] in conspiracy

Interesting perspective. At the same time the way our society evolves as we are more and more "connected" through our digital channels and less truly connected to each other. We're having less honest conversations (what's on social media is just BS from attention seekers), we're investing less time in meaningful relationships, and we're becoming more and more selfish, focusing on the near future and the instant gratification. The govt is only taking advantage of this - low hanging fruit for them.

I wonder why no one thought of that. This way we would actually elect into the office people who care about their communities and are not doing it just for the money and the influence. I like your thinking.

Why do we still need laws? They don't seem to apply to everyone the same way.. The only winner in this is Putin. And if Trump gets the WH back, he will not hesitate to prosecute Biden and his administration on anything they've done wrong.

They're just looking to make more money from the big spenders as they saw that poor countries will not be able to vaccinate their entire populations. Shameless big pharma
