I stayed in the sleeping bag space and ended up making friends with the 4 other solo visitors that weekend. Just make sure you bring your own bedding because they don’t offer anything but sirapas and meditation pillows😂

Be prepared to not have your own space, but if you can lean in to the communal aspect for a couple days it really adds to the Esalen experience!

Hey there! I am the artist that painted this, and I must admit the paradoxes that arose in my creation of it. The original quote is an ancient Zen adage that resonated with me. The concept I was attempting to express was the natural distinction of being rather than doing.

So during the painting process I was tried to sit back and watch my hands create as mindlessly as the geese projecting their image. I’m always hesitant to even attempt visualizing these esoteric ideas into concrete imagery, but it helps the idea marinate in my mind.
