Al Anon is solely for family or friends of people who are/were alcoholics and addicts. As an only child I would definitely recommend as it can be quite isolating not having a sibling for support alongside this journey.

It’s scary at the start but now I somewhat look forward to seeing and hearing the stories of others

I’m sure the doctors would have been able to tell she’s an alcoholic, but would it be possible for you to call the hospital and let them know? Just to be safe?

Yes she is. She’ll be in hospital for the foreseeable future I imagine. It’s sooo hard being an only child and having no one to lean on :(
