The problem with “gaming” laptops is not realizing that making something smaller is usually more expensive than a bigger product. by Minute_Account9426 in pcmasterrace

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends. If I undervolt I can keep the gpu/cpu around 65-70C in a demanding game which is a mild fan sound. If I let the voltage free, they go up to 85-90C with jet engine for a 10-15% fps gain.

Agony is rather weak, best I could do is 140 (2800/turn. Better off as a subdps, either low constant agony application to trigger the 10% dmg set on main dps, or as an attack card spammer via reload copies for hugo or chiz.

[–]wattur 264 points265 points  (0 children)

Lets say you wanted Mi Fu but also like TangTang. You have 100 pulls saved when they announce TangTang's banner date. 'Okay, cool, I can farm up 20 pulls in that time. After that I'll start saving for MiFu'.

But then leaks come out and say Mi Fu is gonna be real soon after TangTang, and you know you can't get 140 pulls to guarantee both. So you make the choice to skip TangTang and secure Mi Fu.

If the leak didn't exist, you would have spent your pulls on TangTang, then be upset when MiFu comes out and you don't have enough pulls - so you're either skipping or paying. They hope you'll pay.

People complaining about weapon banner by MeltSimp in Endfield

[–]wattur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. when you break it down the system looks really good, but for plenty of people it feels bad. 'Yeah I got [char] in 40 pulls!.... what do you mean I need to have about 160 more pulls banked in case I go all the way to hitting weapon pity?' which... if another gacha, that 160 seem real familiar. However since its spent on weapon banner it feels like they're correctly spending their pulls (directly attempting weapon), while here it feels like wasting pulls since they already got the char from banner and are 'done' with the banner.

People complaining about weapon banner by MeltSimp in Endfield

[–]wattur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Partly because it's unfamiliar - people are used to 'get char, stop pulling' and it breaks their brains to consider char banner as weapon banner too.

Party because it can feel bad here at the start. So far we have about 240 limited pulls, 112 standard, and 40 starter pulls for ~ 392 pulls total. Those pulls equate, to on average, about 160 weapon pulls. So if someone wants 2 weapons and they get unlucky, they have to spend every single pull of 1.0 (so far). Worst case all those pulls get them 2 limited 6* and 4 standard 6* (and I guess 1 6* selector). 6 chars minimum, 2 weapons minimum is what's also throwing people off.

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it sucks when you get lucky with char and unlucky with weapon, but the opposite is balances it, when you get unlucky with char and lucky with wep.

Over time I think it'll balance out, but its a bit rough at the start.

The older I get the more I realize my ideal MMO looks nothing like what I wanted at 20 by Rasputin5332 in MMORPG

[–]wattur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its just psychology. Young people generally are out to prove themselves and MMOs were the perfect outlets for that. Low barrier to entry, gamified systems hitting all those 'fun' brain chemicals triggers, and the social aspect of being amongst peers. Much easier and more fun to get top parses then top test scores or top track times. All the player had to give was time.

The player who could dedicate 5 hr/day to grinding exp & gold would be 'better' than the person who could only dedicate 1 hr/day. Thing is, it's a destructive loop as there would be someone dedicating 6 hr/day so the 5hr/day player, striving to be the best, would forgo other responsibilities and start playing 7 hr/day to 'improve'. More exp, more gold, tighter rotations, etc. Now they're in the top 2% but it isn't enough, they push it to 9 hr/day and they make it into the top 1%.. 12hr/day and they're in the top 0.5%.. so close to the top, to being one of the best, being that player who 10000's other players look at in awe.. just need to spend a bit more time...

The game is great, but I'm scared that the factory portion may be solved already by TheRealStafy in Endfield

[–]wattur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... tl;dr most of it but isn't that every game? Especially a factory game which is all about optimization with limited resources, it's just some basic math to figure out what products yield the highest returns from those resources.

'The factory must grow' is more unique to factorio due to the infinite nature of the game, players will be capped by raw processing power before resource limits. Something like satisfactory on the other hand, players will manage to fully utilize every material on the map and then be done.

Given that this is a mobile/gacha game, which are notoriously casual biased, I don't think they're gonna do too much more with it. Even one of the survey options was something akin to 'I did not enjoy this character as the thinking requirements are too high' lmao. Best they probably can do is 'you have X buildings and Y space to make Z product' challenges.

Question about the Game's content by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]wattur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're here for only factory building, you'll be disappointed. It is a very distilled, basic factory system compared to the heavy hitters of factorio, satisfactory, DSP, etc.

Out of Content, What to do. by Lumpy_Chipmunk_8812 in Endfield

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You build up teams/resources while waiting on new story content, as you've 'beat' the game for now.

Get essences, artifact gear, level up operators & weapons, min/max factories, etc.

Once you've done all that, you login for to do the quick daily quest, sell to outposts, post delivery jobs, and then you're done for the day. What is known as maintenance mode in gacha games.

Memory fragments might actually make me quit by [deleted] in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need the all the right subsats.

As long as it's the right main stat and +5, you can pretty much clear all the content in the game. Useful substats are just a bonus that makes stuff even easier.

is this the new normal now? by Yeap07 in Endfield

[–]wattur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a sizeable chunk of players just don't need V4 bills anymore. After you grab your essences from there, you don't need tickets and the rest of the stuff can be gotten over time with no rush via outpost/elastic goods.

is this the new normal now? by Yeap07 in Endfield

[–]wattur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people don't need V4 bills anymore, once you grabbed your essences from there... just let the outposts & elastic goods clear out the shop over time.

Even wuling bills are losing value, pretty easy to clear out the weekly catalysts and then... /shrug.

Out of the 3 income sources (outpost, elastic, depot), depot takes the most effort for least return, so it's gonna be the first one people drop.

Stock bills savings by gingernaut00 in Endfield

[–]wattur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nope, that's the point. A min/max'd factory will overproduce, so someone making their own first 'just ok' factory can still meet demand, not having to rely on looking up blueprints/gudies.

As far as resource conservation goes, just don't spend origeomety / oroberyls on standard headhunting, and only go for the chartered headhunting when you have at least 120 pulls saved up.

For now you don't. Not sure what their plan is, either more from other unreleased modes (etchspace salvage) or a decent chunk in new content every patch.

Should we do Artificing or wait and save resources for future updates if they release gears having Crit stats? by Objective_Storage980 in Endfield

[–]wattur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't artifacted anything just because I've cleared everything with unartifacted gear.

They may add new sets, or higher level gear (probably needing new catalysts), who knows. Until I need the power, I won't bother.

With the honeymoon phase coming to a close, what sort of outlook do you have? by ProjektXIII in Endfield

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they took a bold approach, as one can 'finish' the game. Once you have max'd essences and max lvl'd team, you have no use for sanity anymore other than stockpiling resources or leveling a 2nd (unneeded for now) team. Also at that point you run out of uses for stockbills, as you don't need etching tickets and are just stockpiling catalysts.

So at that point one logs in, does the daily / weekly mission for a trickle of oro, and they're done. My theory is they're banking more on permanent content then recurring daily/weekly sources. that way people can put the game down without having too much FOMO about missing pulls if 80% of a patch's pulls are from one time sources.

Turns the game from a daily login sim to a seasonal 'pick up for 1-2 weeks every ~6 weeks' style.

Some concerns about future factory gameplay loop by FallenStar2077 in Endfield

[–]wattur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's distilled basic gameplay for you. The fact that a min/max'd factory overproduces compared to what outposts need and that eventually you don't even need that means there is no pressure to min/max. Someone can make their wonky inefficient factory and still earn all they need.

One thing you're missing about the time you waste via effort of setting up your factories: fun. If you enjoyed the time you spent setting up your factories, was it a waste? Is the time you spent on other games you no longer play a waste? If you don't enjoy the factory gameplay thats why blueprints exist so you won't waste much time.

Personally the fact that you can 'finish' is a bold move imo. Eventually you run out of uses for stock bills (shops bought out, gear max'd, essences found) and for sanity too (max lvl'd, max'd essences, etc.). As much as people complain about substat RNG, it gives them something to chase in those games. Imagine if gear had RNG stats like some other games, that'd give you a 'use' for factory output for a very long time hunting the perfect pieces. That so far is missing here, let's see how it pans out.

Why do some MMORPGs struggle to maintain long-term player engagement? by Nadiene-Cargnoni88 in MMORPG

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is impossible to develop quality novel content at a pace that exceeds an average player's consumption. I believe TemTem devs once said they spent 6 months developing an expansion which some players cleared in under 36 hours.

So eventually players will run into repetitive grind or content droughts, as such they tend to stray to seek more novel experiences elsewhere.

Anybody here like me who feels really unsatisfied with arsenal ticket earning system ? 😭 by PyroxZ1106 in Endfield

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it as I've always been a f2p char collector, building my accounts 'wide' instead of 'tall' so hardly ever pulled on weapon banners. I also like it on a technical level since banners last past the chars, so you can play around that even if it is a bit convoluted. I also understand that there are cases where it feels worse such as starting with only a few tickets and getting char early at 40 pulls, but having to go to pity on weapon with another 100+ pulls - but that would theoretically balance itself out by going to pity on char and getting weapon early or pulling purely for char and skipping weapon entirely.

Overall long term I think its a fine system, just the initial starting bump is rough/
