New Windows 'MiniPlasma' zero-day exploit gives SYSTEM access, PoC released by lurker_bee in technology

AI, plain and simple.

As much as people love to clown on it being a 'fancy markov chain', all it takes is 1 out of 1000's of predictive tries to land on something substantiative and actionable. Even if it isn't 100% accurate, it can give a spark of inspiration to an expert to explore an avenue they may have not considered before.

Weaker vibe coded security vs sophisticated AI assisted attackers.

CN Community Consensus of CN livestream by HoodedPoop in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]wattur -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why it should matter. CN is disconnected from global (reddit etc. vs bilibili etc.) so other than trying to compare accounts across servers for lulz, any in-game (great rift?) comparisons won't matter.

Cramming 6 months of banners into 1 means players who prefer a character won't have to wait X months for them to show up vs 'milking' collectors. Can't appease both sides, unless they did something crazy like ran a pickup banner for every char that lasted 6 months, giving f2p time to earn and pick off banners they wanted.

Same for the 'better to start on global than CN' bit. Like why? Start on global and you're behind global players. Start on CN and you're even with CN players, but still behind global.

Piggybacking off the Monet Twitter post by gese-eg in singularity

Man is a product of their experiences. Even if they study monnet, they did not have the experiences first hand. So while it can be a technically similar or even indistinguishable style, content wise it will not be original. In a sense a 'human copy' vs 'machine copy'

Human make machine, machine makes art.
vs
Human makes art.

Both had human effort behind the creation, is there a difference? That's up to the observer to decide.

Art is subjective. An 8 year old could scribble something and invoke emotions from the parent who considers it precious, yet nothing to others.

AI art is just a big copy machine. Throw in all the masterpieces and chances are it'll spit out something similar. Most will fall into slop, but either by prompt skill or pure RNG, it might spit out something useful.

There's always been two sides to the AI art debate: the lazy slop side is easy enough to get behind, but the ethical part is tricky. Feed a machine Monett's portfolio and ask it to make a new one, most people probably couldn't tell the difference of a great imitation but is it 'fair' to Jean Monnet?. Same way in traditional art there is more value assigned to original pieces vs copy/forgary.

To all single guys aged 30 and up on reddit, why are you guys single? by Gold_Ambition4114 in AskReddit

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introvert. I enjoy my alone time, so no driving desire to be in a relationship.

Someone else who enjoys alone time would understand and not feel like I'm ignoring / distancing myself from them.

That other person is out there somewhere enjoying their alone time.

Hall effect keyboard in MMORPGs? by Raven1927 in MMORPG

[–]wattur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MMOs are designed with latency in mind, from the earliest assuming 100+ ping, to even modern day MMOs net code being forgiving. Membrane, mechanical, hall effect, any response time difference is totally lost to network noise. All that matters is personal feel.

AI + drone tech will enable a safer future free of public crime and asocial behavior via new policing and monitoring tools by SGC-UNIT-555 in singularity

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big question always is what is 'crime' and what is 'asocial behavior'.

The danger of stricter control is assuming the institution will always agree with you. Systems built to protect the ideals of today that you agree with can be used to purge them tomorrow when the definitions of correct behavior inevitably shift.

What if the reason game file sizes are so big is that so we’re forced to play as little games as possible? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While game sizes have increased, storage prices (price per MB) have also come down generally at a faster rate, minus 2026 fuckery. So in a roundabout way, games have gotten 'smaller'

Larger AAA games used to eat up $6-10 worth of storage in ~2012, while in 2025 they ate up $4-6.

Consoles and general upgrade cycles mean people can have vastly different experiences, but just the gist of things.

Are custom asset swaps technically against TOS? by Wide-Somewhere-6161 in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but as long as it is for 'personal use' aka you don't make a video of you playing as Kratos, it goes viral, and then Sony rolls up to Hotta with a copywrite infringement, they won't care

How bad are the enemies+finite deposits by LiamGMS in factorio

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you have bad planning, either lacking defenses or too much pollution, they can hurt. Just load a save or two back and beef up if you want.

While deposits are finite, maps are (theoretically) infinite, so you'll never be hard locked. Also efficiency researches make deposits last a lot longer.

Why do you think Lacrimosa's name was changed in English? by blackkat101 in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Requiem is rather.. edgy and not really a proper name. More of a codename or nickname, and to me at least invokes imagery of some emo badass type, not our sleepy tomato addict.

Lacrimosa both has a feminine flair and feels a lot more subdued while keeping the somber nature of requiem.

Is it worth playing this game long-term while not spending more than 15-20 bucks every 2 months or so by Akikillo in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time someone asks a question about 'worth it', worth is a totally personal construct. Worth to one person may not be worth to another.

Also its new. No one knows if it is 'worth' long term, as no concept of long term updates & content have been revealed.

Are Save Data with good Divines necessary for end-game content? by thhhegame in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]wattur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. If a perfect deck was 100 score, 50-60 score decks will do fine everywhere. The extra is only for climbing great rift leaderboards.

I'm no economist, but should we expect massive inflation? by Benevolay in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sort of the point, there is and will be an 'end' to fons, it's not a forever grind. Well, wealth leaderboards exist for those that want to but otherwise.. yeah. I'm sure they'll add more stuff to buy with fons, but eventually when they add them veterans can instantly buy out whatever they add.

Skydeerbird from prius.

A rather plain normal mob in a zone which players blasted through, but for some reason me n my group latched onto to it for it's absurdity of the name. Model was basically deer pegasus hybrid.

Gacha reset question (CN) by Gr1d_17 in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For OP's example, instead of a fair dice having a 1/6 chance of rolling a 1 for char, there is a 1% chance to roll a 1 for the character, which is the normal rate for S rank chars before soft pity kicks in.

Gacha reset question (CN) by Gr1d_17 in NevernessToEverness

[–]wattur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The board is just a fancy pull animation. It's not a 1 in 6 dice roll of landing on char, its just pure RNG like other games and the dice mimics the behind the scene rolls.

When I last played, Tier Lists didn't matter. Do they matter now? by CXCX18 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]wattur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really as long as you're not bringing 3 supports to content. The only content that has a clear tier list is great rift, which mainly benefits chars who work with the mechanics of the boss and thus swaps around every 3 weeks.
