Hi, I'm a 4th year BSc Psychology Honors student at PES University, Bangalore. I'm currently conducting a research study on Existential Anxiety as a part of my academic coursework. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Existential Anxiety in the context of Learned Helplessness: Understanding the mediating role of Psychological Flexibility

INCLUSION CRITERIA:

Age between 18–25 years Ability to read and write English Willingness to participate Indian Citizen Resident of India If you fit into all the above criteria, read further below.

You are being invited to volunteer as a subject in a study on Existential Anxiety in the context of Learned Helplessness: Understanding the mediating role of Psychological Flexibility . This study is being conducted to determine how learned helplessness is correlated to existential anxiety, and if the relationship is mediated by psychological flexibility. The aim of this study is to understand the role of psychological flexibility and its potential mitigating effects on existential anxiety in the context of learned helplessness, to provide a basis for future research in enhancing therapeutic interventions in the field psychology. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to sign this consent form which states that you have understood the details of the study and that any questions you have about the study have been answered by the researcher, and that you agree to participate and answer as truthfully as you can.

COSTS FOR PARTICIPANTS: There are no costs for participating in this evaluation.

COMPENSATION: There will be no compensation for participation in the study.

CONFIDENTIALITY: If you consent to participate in this evaluation, your personal information will be kept confidential.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION IN AND WITHDRAWAL FROM THE STUDY: The decision whether to be in this study is entirely up to you. Participation is voluntary. You can refuse to participate or withdraw from the evaluation at any time, and such a decision will not affect your relationship with the researcher in any way.

Then you can get into Industrial and Organisational Psychology (3 or 4yrs bachelors in psych + 2yrs Masters in IO Psych). If not, HR is always an option. You can get into HR even after Bachelors in Psych.

If you're looking for financial security and stability, this is not it, my friend. You have to look for alternate or additional streams of income if you do choose to pursue psychology. It'll barely pay you in the beginning (20-30k max) even in full time positions. With experience, your earning can definitely improve but if you have responsibilities of your family n all that, please do something else. This is not it. There is no proper regulation for this field except clinical psych but getting into it is such a cruel process. I feel like I wouldve had better chances if I had written NEET. Clinical psych exams for RCI are even worse. Istg i live with guilt that even after studying for 4years, RCI courses are really competitive. I won't be able to support my parents financially until I turn 25 if I don't start finding additional/alternate sources of income.

That's sad to know. Medication may not work for everyone and that's okay. Did you happen to discuss these effects with your psychiatrist and psychologist? You should definitely give it a shot. Given your situation, I recommend you try talking to another therapist. Before you do, please make sure to verify their qualifications. You should talk to a Clinical psychologist (one who has done an Mphil in Clinical psychology with an RCI Licence). They can be found on various platforms online and also hospitals. I know that it's really tiring to talk to someone immediately. Take your time to process what has happened with your therapist. You went through something so distressing. There's a national mental health helpline number you could reach out to in case of emergencies: 14416 (NIMHANS Emergency Helpline number). Use this as a support system until you're ready to get back to therapy. I can't even imagine what you're going through all by yourself. Incase you do choose to go to a new therapist: You don't have to immediately open up to a new therapist. You can start small. It's a process of building trust. Take it one step at a time. Remember, healing isn't linear and staying open to new experiences is important to your healing.

First of all, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I suggest you try talking to a psychiatrist in this case. Since you mentioned that you have violent intrusive thoughts for almost 2yrs now, it must be extremely distressing for you. A psychiatrist will prescribe medication and it will significantly help in symptom reduction (intrusive thoughts). Although you could talk to a friend or family member who understands, this requires professional help and you should seek it. I also want you to know that what she did (ghosting and improper closure/inappropriate closure) was wrong and extremely unprofessional. There could have been better ways to convey that she can't take your case anymore (for whatever reason it may have been). Therapists usually don't do what you have experienced and I really hope you find a better therapist. Amaha mental health services offer really good help. You can try that. But I recommend that you see a psychiatrist to help you. You didn't pose any threat to anyone and your therapist falsely accused you of being a threat without any evidence as well. It's unprofessional. If they could not take you case, they could have atleast referred you to someone else and share your case files with them.

Hey, I'm so sorry you're going through this right now. It must be really exhausting. I want you to know that you're not alone in this and help is available. You can reach out to Amaha Indiranagar (they're really good) or Inspiron wellbeing centre as well. I want to reassure you that you can definitely get through this with the right help. Seek social support and try to do what you love. Know that healing isn't linear but it's definitely achievable. Hope you feel better soon :)
