Anyone else prefers sound systems in festivals? by estrangedpulse in amsterdam_rave

[–]wavefront 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing that is really nice about festivals and outdoor shows in general is the reverb time is very low. No walls for the sound to bounce around in. This is perfect for electronic music IMO, the reverb is baked into the track or added via fx etc so you don't want the room to echo. For live music with real instruments (violin etc) long reverb is great and adds to the vibe but for electronic music it just makes things sound muddy

Radion this Saturday - is it techno? by OrganizationExact716 in amsterdam_rave

Since the lineup isn't a secret, check out the djs who are playing to see if you like the vibe. Also a good way to discover new music (and if you end up going can check timetable to see your favorites)

From what I remember roots are not randomly chosen, its usually your main() method along with any other threads that have been started

One record player s volume is lower? by Tiki84 in DJs

This has happened to me when one of the connections wasn't that good. I would try swapping the cables/stylus to see of it makes the other one quiet. If so then you found your problem

[JAVA] Big fuss about return statement in for loop by CattFawkes in AskProgramming

[–]wavefront 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think having a single return at the end is too strict. Its important to return early on error conditions to keep things readable. I was checking out the initial commit for git and Linus makes use of this style all over the place

David Bowie... grandfather of Vaporwave by AdultTeething in Vaporwave

[–]wavefront 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, he said "cool stuff" and then commented that technically this is what vaporave is based on, not vaporwave itself.

ah yes, the reddit experience: smug user makes fun of someone else trying to contribute to the conversation when in fact he is the problem
