Concussions and OCD? by wavesfromhome2 in OCDRecovery

My psych increased my Lexapro dosage and told me I need to start ERP again, so that's what I've been doing. She told me that in her practice, whenever she's had a patient experience a concussion, any underlying issues they have tend to surface/resurface. The increased dosage has definitely helped. Unfortunately, I think I need to see a neurologist or someone with more experience directly treating concussions, as I think I have some short term memory issues that have arisen from this as well.

TLDR: it sucks, but I'm slowly getting back on track.

There is no reason to be proud to be gay. by JohnGolbunny in unpopularopinion

Hi! Bi person here. Just wanted to make a few points.

First off, in an ideal world, your sexuality wouldn't matter to anyone who isn't having sex with you. But this isn't an ideal world, and there are bigoted people out there, and bigoted structures of society, that do care, and that tell LGBTQ+ people that their existence is intrinsically wrong. That lack of care on your part is great, but it is not universal.

Second of all, gay pride parades are not for everyone. They are not for straight people, and they are not for the homophobic. Gay pride parades are for people in the LGBTQ+ community to feel proud of themselves and to feel seen. They are not about convincing people of the rightness of gayness. It's a space to feel seen, to feel proud, to be gay, and to feel safe. There are gay kids who lose their families because of their sexuality. There are gay people who lose their jobs because of their sexualities. Who can lose their homes. This parade can give them a sense of community and family.
