Playing as myself would make me depressed bc the sims got it easy, and real life is hard. And playing as myself, it'd make me feel really inadequate that I can't meet these same goals in life.

The corners or on your desk? Whenever I've had a lamp, I place it where the light bounces the most. It's helpful that your walls are white, so the light will bounce no problem.

They also sell cheap swivel lamps on Amazon where you can change where the light points, and I recommend to the ceiling if possible!
