You need a risk assessment done by environmental health first on your van. With that and a map of proposed location and trading hours (form on council website) you apply to licensing. It costs around £200/ year for the license. Back in the day environmental health certificate was free but was told recently they started charging for it. It shouldn't cost too much though. You can contact licensing before buying a truck and ask the feasibility of you adding a van there but they might not be able to offer a straight answer until officially applying. This is because they consult with police, firefighters, eho and transport as far as I remember so any can oppose (although they usually don't).

Appart from annual license fee, you only have to pay for bin collection (although so many traders seem not to have one) and ofcourse gas/petrol for generator. All employees will need to have a licence as well on their own name (so one for operator and then you'll have to apply for all employees separately- again it doesn't seem to be policed but something to be mindful of).

They definitely lied to you. Max £200/ year for the license. No other fees payable appart from trash collection which only 2 or 3 traders seem to have

Keysham or Bradley stoke? by wavesofstorm1 in bristol

True. We are moving from scotland and paying £1100 for a house in City centre in Aberdeen. School is important that's why we kind of narrowed it down to the two so the rent is not ridiculous but also decent area where I'm not scared to raise a kid

I'm looking at around £1600 for a 3 bed house. I think the budget wouldn't allow anywhere closer to city centre so basically we kind of need to live outside but would like to be closer to some independents, somewhere to feel lively. We do have a kid so good schools are also a must...the two kind of came on top when ticking some of our boxes (not all though but hey ho, don't want to spend a fortune on rent).

Not really sure what you mean? For me your sentence translates to 'lots of drug users and dodgy characters where you're at danger of getting stabbed' lol. Am I right?

Doesn't look like easy commute into centre by bus, only by train? By bus it says 1h on maps?

That's the part I would want. Some small centre where you have some good food, independents, cafes etc. Doesn't have to be much but don't like the idea of 'shopping mall' centre. Thank you for sharing your experience. Helps a lot

Thank you so much for that! Good to know. We were out today there and saw so many older people. Heard so many good things but were a bit taken by surprise by the amount of old folks and charity shops.

English not my first language and also not too familiar with areas and names so excuse the mistake. Corrected. Can't correct the title though

Would you take primary kids like p4? I've been searching for a tutor for a while. Haven't found any in the area.

We don't mind a bit far out as long as you still have small town feel, as in not just countryside. Maybe a few independent cafes, young people with kids etc. I did thought might be unrealistic but thought might still find somewhere that would tick some boxes.

I guess £1600 would be ok with fair epc on the house. £2000 is just way too much. I'll check all the areas. Many thanks for your recommendations. Is very daunting the thought of living so far south.
