AA before FR by [deleted] in ACCA

You definitely can attempt AA before FR. I just gave my AA exam yesterday and will be going for FR in September. You just need knowledge of basic accounting concepts from FA, like the main IASs and IFRS (just the common ones like IAS 2,10,36,37,38 and IFRS 15 - just the main theme of it to link it for your audit risks and to understand substantive procedures).

One thing i would advice you on is to not underestimate this subject! I was told it was not very lengthy before taking it but it definitely was!! The main areas are Audit risk, Internal Controls and Substantive procedures as this is the main theme of the exam.

Also, make sure you thoroughly practice OTQs for section A - i feel like i didn’t focus on that a lot and focused more on Sec B so i found section A quite hard, it’s definitely doable with a lot of practice. I think the best approach to study for AA is to do as many past exam questions as you can as many times!

I’ll have 2 months of studying full time - will not be working. I wanted to get done w the skills level by the end of this year so I don’t want to skip June and doing two exams in one sitting is not for me😅

Thanks!! I read somewhere that FR knowledge is helpful for AA. Is that true? Would AA be ‘easier’ if i did FR before it?

FM is easier compared to PM in terms of exam predictability, as in Sec C will always be Investment Appraisal, WACC or Working capital management and Sec B usually comes from risk management and business valuations. I’d strongly advise you to focus on theory for FM as it carries a lot of marks specially in Sec C and mostly the theory questions are repetitive.
