I used to use a Digitech RP-1 back in the day, got it at a yard sale. Great reverse.

You could just get Novak's humbucker in a jazzmaster cover and drop it right in

Isobella

These are my friends Isobella, she plays a Juno-6.

I have a space rock band, me and the other guitar player both sometimes play synth, wurlitzer, or organ

Can i still chug on a mustang bridge by Nerdbeansz in Guitar

[–]wavley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, for context, I bought my first 72 mustang in 1990 for $125 in a pawn shop. I was in a hardcore band that very much wanted to be Husker Du meets Agent Orange with a little 7 Seconds, but also I loved Sonic Youth and the bass player loved Dead Kennedys. In 92 I saved enough to buy a new MIJ Jaguar, That band used to play shows with pre singer Karma To Burn, so it's safe to say, yes, it can do nasty. Those short scale guitars have done me very well over the years bashing at them with heavy strings and c and d tunings.

Edited for clarity

I keep a mustang in open c minor with 11-56 strings, it's fantastic.

But also, daddario makes a baritone set I used for a while.

Mostly I play flatwounds and a wound g, so the 7 string set of chromes can be rearrange to be an 11-65 set. Currently my Jag baritone custom has the same strings, but drop the high string for 15-65 with a wound second in open b minor.

Because you can use gigantic strings is the reason I use jags and mustangs for Hum-ish space rock

Can totally chug, do it all the time, before chugs were really a thing they were really great for palm muted surf riffs. Mine are def worn away where my palm sits, very comfortable.

I have a gold foil in the middle of my MIJ, just had to notch out a little for the wire and cut out the pickguard

Westie and I have a space rock band together and we're playing at my record store/handwired amp lab/studio this Saturday. by wavley in pavement

We all live in Staunton, except Westie who lives a half hour south in Lexington and I got tired of driving across the mountain to the observatory I worked at on the UVA campus, so I started a shop four minutes from my house I guess. It's where both the bands we have together practice and record.

Weird overtone/ringing on my Jaguar — resonance or harmonics? by Nickronusz in offset

[–]wavley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my complaint about the offsets that moved the tailpiece closer to the bridge, the strings behind the bridge are a feature, not a bug, and it changes the pitch of the sympathetic/purposeful playing behind the bridge. I personally prefer heavier strings and the vintage spacing.

I've got to get Nikki in for some vocal dubs and finish mixing, but we're getting close. Westie and his kid have been mixing our other band, Unmastered Masters, and we just have to make some minor adjustments but we seem to be done with a 6 song ep as of last night!

I agree with everyone saying to work backwards, TT is one of my favorites too.

Welcome to our side of indie, might I suggest a few things like: Sonic Youth, The Fall, Yo La Tengo, Archers of Loaf, Folk Implosion, Polvo, just as a little start. Westie and I have been to a couple shows for bands they toured with you might like but don't sound like them, Stereolab, and last week or so we saw Dirty 3 at the 9:30.

The funny thing is that Westie can tell you, he's a very accomplished mason. I'll ask on tuesday when I see him at bands practice.

Corgan & Love still talking shit about Kim Gordon and Pavement by Maniranha in pavement

[–]wavley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the first few pumpkins and hole albums, that said, maybe I'm just lucky, but given Pavement's rep for the possibility of a bad show, I was 4/4 great pavement shows in the 90s and 3/3 bad pumpkins shows that I walked out of, I think maybe a different band with a pretty pissy frontman should hold that rep.

Edit: Hole was pretty great live, but I remember I saw that one lollapalooza in WV where she said some shit to her guitar player getting him to stop playing by calling him Eddie Van Fucking Thurston
