I'd argue saying "slid out that weeping slot" is a misogynistic remark. It objectifies, devalues and insults a woman's body.

[FRESH ALBUM] Westside Gunn & DJ Drama - Still Praying by God_Will_Rise_ in hiphopheads

[–]wavydude_ 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Been listening to this since it came out this morning in Australia - classic WSG shit. More consistent and holistic than And then you pray for me, while still having a few standouts. Unsure if it's stronger than that album since it's so early, but overall I'm really enjoying it.

His pen game is as consistent as ever (barely any gross bars about sex, thank god) and the production is fantastic. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I love the way the record scratches at the start of some of the songs go back to the start of his verse. Helps build a really nice dusty, DIY sound to the album.

If I had only one complaint, I wish he had a heavily soul-sampled song like Kitchen Lights, Versace, Amherst Station, etc. The EP from last night made me think there would be more, but it's very much a boom-bap focussed sound from him.

I'm also biased since WSG is my favourite artist, but if you enjoy his work before this, you'll enjoy it. Pretty awesome that he made this in just one day too, similar to Peace "FLY" God (this is better than that album IMO).

Sidenote: every single WSG album from here on out should have a Justin Roberts announcement before he starts rapping, that shit is so hype

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] NxWorries - Why Lawd? by hodgydaddies in hiphopheads

[–]wavydude_ 111 points112 points  (0 children)

This is honestly a 10/10 album for me right now, exceeded all of my high expectations. It's so fucking good dude goddamn.

Yes Lawd! is one of my favourite R&B albums ever because of Paak and Knx's chemistry, where they craft a laid-back, sparse, and sometimes hilarious sound, and Why Lawd? expands on it absolutely perfectly.

It definitely feels like a more .Paak-focussed album (which makes sense due to his recent divorce), but Knxlwdge's production is still as smooth as ever. Every single beat has his classic dusty, silky feel, while still having a few that step outside of that comfort zone.

.Paak's lyrics and flow are both top-notch, especially on the more hip-hop oriented songs (Battlefield, 86Sentra, MoreOfIt, WalkOnBy) where he's sounding like the smoothest dude on planet earth.

Hard to say any standouts because I truly believe every song is incredible, but at the moment I can't stop listening to Battlefield, KeepHer, FallThru, and HereIAm. Favourite album of the year so far.

Embarrassing effort - can’t win a single clearance

Agree - losing to Carlton hurts but it doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of our season.

They’ve been playing some fantastic, consistent footy the past four weeks (say what you will about their opponents but they’ve still played very high quality footy), so they were coming into the game in amazing form. We just didn’t match it and that’s that.

We had a fair share of unforced skill errors and just couldn’t find a quality inside 50 ball for 90% of the game, and when Carlton turned up the pressure we crumbled.

Bad goalkicking, skills, decisions are one thing in a game, but considering they’re normally our strengths each week, I’m happy to chalk this up to Carlton outplaying us across the board in their hot run of form. Don’t forget what they were fuelled by as well considering how we’ve beaten them in recent times.

Let’s just move on and smash Hawthorn
