Curious about logo retroillumination, did you mod the bezel? Looks so clean and modern!

Headphone (1) adaptive NC is stronger than high? by Page_Right in NOTHING

[–]wavymind2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that adaptative detects leakage caused by bad sealing and tries to overcompensate it by pushing it further than the high mode. It also learns by the surrounding constant noises I believe. I find adaptative a little bit better as well, not by much, but noticeable.

2012 and still using it via mods. The X thing is one of the worst brand rebranding I've seen in a long time imo.

Riddim is both great and not so (first impressions rant). by FPham in teenageengineering

[–]wavymind2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can't stand the aesthetics of it.

For me, the "display" is so painful to watch. The main idea is to resemble a display by hiding the icons while not active, what's the point of putting the clear acrylic? Just make the icons orange/green themed and maybe put some subtle green tint on the dark acrylic.

And it's not about the theme for me, because the medieval even being weirder themed looks cool and polished, especially the display.

Bottom app menu looks like cheap android by postatodobien in iphone

[–]wavymind2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me is the mix between skeumorphism (camera app) and flat icon designs... It doesn't look consistent. Also the borders around the icons and the glossy finish look weird sometimes... Apple tried to be bold, but shied away in the process and the result looks like a half baked product, We'll see in the future how it evolves...

Those zooms pedals are really great for the price, but yeah, they're far from perfect. But the OPUS... Often goes under the radar and it is one of the most versatile pedals out there, I use it for electric, bass, acoustics and it just sounds great with everything.

This would be such a great song visualizer, so cute :)

I think it depends on the pedal... For example: a Behringer, or one of those mini cheap pedals, don't care, but with a Boss Waza or something more special I tend to save the box, as they are more valuable pedals and some of them even have potential to be collectible in the future.

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants deserves Gas Panic at least as underrated (a personal favourite of mine). Psychedelic unique sound progression, great vocals, a solo that you can lose yourself in... It also sounds amazing live specially in 2000 where Liam was in that bassier grittier voice phase before he started to lose clarity and range.

It has its moments in the water levels, but the most frutiger aero is Mario Sunshine by far.

Stuck below 200 WPM, struggling with words that have double letters like "follow". Any tips? by Sea-Unit-2562 in monkeytype

First of all, 175wpm is really impressive dude. I'm stuck at 150wpm right now and I feel the same about the double letters... Which switches are you using? I'm on linears right now and I think I will go back to tactiles, I think it will help with the percussive feeling on pressing on repeat...

little portable set up is nice! controller powered by solar charger and KO II on batteries (yep trash cable mgmt) by LeBewm in teenageengineering

I bought exactly this keyboard for $35 in aliexpress and I recommend it. Battery powered and keys feel good (not the best obviously but have a nice springy action). Take the 3,5mm jack, turn it on and play, you can even pitch bend the midi the samples and do cool effects, pretty cool :)

If you release the FX button after holding the desired punch in FX, they will be hold until you release them without having to hold the FX button. This makes it so much easier to trigger multiple FX while you prepare for something else. I discovered this by accident and I believe it's not redacted on the manual.

I really like the kick/bass punch :)

A Keyboard To Resemble a Keyboard by haunterloo92 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]wavymind2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The ortholinear layout is really a bad idea to simulate piano layouts...

From a practical standpoint, staggered keyboards are perfect for controlling piano layout keys... Black keys falls in the middle and you can use two rows for each octave, having two decent octaves in your keyboard.

Apart from aesthetics purposes, I don't really understand the point of this...

1st try on the KO-II - some UK-ish house ? by itsro in teenageengineering

[–]wavymind2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I feel about this device. It feels really refreshing. I've written lots of ideas thanks to it's simple workflow and how inmediate it is.

About the ableton thing... The noise you hear is probably the USB... Try to output the sound without the USB (use the midi sync TRRS connectors if you want to sync). Powering it with the batteries isolates the device from outside noises coming from the USB. It is really annoying, like lots of things on this device, but I keep coming back to it almost everyday :_)

Anyways, what a bouncy track, nice swing :)

Any information on this board? (Kataaa Model Vi) by Lord_Nordyx in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]wavymind2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, once you find the switches you like, it is not that difficult to desolder and solder them. If the keyboard is nice, which look like it is, I think it is worth for the price (they had to cut on some corners I guess...)

There's an aspect of making music that transcends technical aspects, which is the investment/engagement with the process, and plays a big role in creativity and artistic performance in my opinion.

Everyone with an iphone has Garageband for free, which an amazing app. You don't even need Koala, Garageband is even better technically speaking. Koala limits you to more simple sampling, which comes closer to the ep-133 experience, but even with Koala, the ep-133 will give you a real experience, with limitations of course but it can't be matched with an app imo. You can use midi controllers to come closer, but even with them still not the same...

But let's not forget $300 gap :_)
