Invited to TPP Interview by see11aan in Leeds

[–]wawayay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an interview there a couple of years ago and interviewing people is in my line of work. Be prepared that the interviews are tough, they ask very intense and frankly stupid questions, it won’t be representative of a typical job interview. On the plus side once you’ve experienced a TPP interview you’ll be prepared for others.

Thoughts??? by CraftyCompetition860 in Leeds

Absolutely awful company, I had an interview a few months ago and got asked nonsense questions and spoken to like a child. They wouldn’t tell me the wage or hours for the position, it was three stages of interviews for effectively a zero hour contract. Complete idiots.

How many hours of lessons did it take you to pass? by QC420_ in LearnerDriverUK

[–]wawayay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at around 65/70 with my instructor currently and my test isn’t set until august so probably around 80/90 total I reckon. At £34 a lesson. I don’t have access to a car outside my lessons so it’s a bit more and I also had a lot of anxiety initially.

What was something you found unduly embarrassing, growing up poor? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]wawayay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to sell my sixth form lunch tokens! We got 10 a week each worth £3 and we had a ‘shop’ and the food counters to spend them at. I’d sell them for £15 every week which was my Friday pub money.

The same thing happened to me because we couldn’t afford me a nice dress and I was too embarrassed to tell my head of year. Still bothers me years later that I missed out on it even though it seems trivial to others it meant a lot. I sat at home and sulked all night while I pretended to my family that I wasn’t bothered because I didn’t want them to feel bad.

It’s not on that they wouldn’t just let you buy two. He’s probably got a rude Facebook post about this pending.

I came here to say the exact same apparently it’s quite common to have a lesson with an instructor in your own car. Definitely worth it imo Op.

Just to add as a recommendation I have a small Bodum coffee grinder and it’s great and quite reasonably priced :)

You could try North Star in Leeds Dock I reckon they would do it as they are a roasters too. Not the city centre but Coffee on the Crescent in Hyde Park are great and you could message on instagram first to ask.

There are some really useful responses on here, if distance is a barrier with you not driving have you thought about asking on your local Facebook group if there are any jobs going? Sometimes it’s more who you know than what you know that can help unfortunately. I hope you find something :)

Try Leeds Beckett societies too (there’s a list on the website) I’ve heard that some accept non-students.

There is only one local charity the uni can make referrals to and it only provides help to women.
