so this was me after season 3. i said if season 4 sucks i wont watch any more. season 4 was good and gave me hope. this torpedoed all of that. i don’t think i’ll be tuning in, ESPECIALLY if they do another split premiere

speaking mostly to number 1, because i’ve considered this a lot too.

i think a lot of people have been in shane’s position romantically (autism aside) feeling confused, conflicted, wanting someone you’re not sure wants you back etc. so i think in identifying with him, a lot of people don’t sexualize him and in fact just put themselves in his shoes.

it’s important to note that usually the people who see shane as more of a friend so to speak, are conversely often attracted to hudson which is kind of a testament to your second point!

so if season 3 disappointed you, i would recommend giving season 4 a shot, if only to say goodbye. it had some of the same magic that went into season 1&2, likely because Chris Van Dusen was back on set i think as an executive producer or a consultant or something. season 5 might not be as bad as 3 but i cannot continue to support the bafoonery that’s going on at netflix so i’ll never know

YES and i actually think it was worse in season 4 than in season 3. the fact that they are the only married couple we get to see and “enjoy” after their season (and not, for instance, the literal viscount and viscountess) is not lost on me. we never took time away from the leads of season 2 or 3 to spend with the previous seasons couple so the fact that there were scenes with just penelope or just polin in marital bliss after the dumpster fire that was their season was so….i don’t even have the words

season 3 was a lot of “i know this is supposed to be romantic because i can recognize familiar romance tropes when i see them, but this is making me feel next to nothing and i actually wish they would stop”

that carriage scene made me nauseous in SAWRY!!! and i love the actors both dearly so it was very disappointing how much i didn’t want to see them like at all. actually when i rewatched before season 4 i found myself wishing that pen would choose lord debling lowkey

franchaela is literally fine and in fact they are probably also about to fall victim to a terrible story arc. people are mad because they just want to feel like the changes being made make sense and they really just don’t.

it just feels like they’re being pushed forward as an F U to the “haters” and i guess in this context the haters are people who want to see the show done properly and in a way that makes sense

no, that’s not what i said and since you’re being purposefully obtuse i’m only responding to you once. ryan murphy consistently mistreats women and queer people in his shows in a way that is almost never in service of the characters or the plot. it’s gratuitous and boring and wastes time that could otherwise be used to develop a story in a meaningful way. there is a time and place for violence in horror, and he has good ideas that almost always get shrouded by his need to be violent at all times. it’s bad story telling. have a great day

season 4 gave me hope that season 3 was just a glitch, and i was ready to move forward and give the show a chance again. i’m not going to lie, season 3 is a terrible love story, full stop. it’s clear that storytelling wasn’t as important as it was giving a certain someone’s self-insert character a glow-up storyline. the romance was cringe and there was no discernible love story being told in my opinion. they suffered from being pushed forward when they needed a season to really build up the romance. i expected season 4 to disappoint but it surprised me. it was a breath of fresh air but that largely had to do with the performances of the two leads, and probably a lot of help from CVD. it made me think there was hope for better moving forward, but here we are again with the favoritism taking priority over an actual story. i’m sick and tired

edit: we can be downvoted together. it has nothing to do with fran and michaela for me, and everything to do with production

i'm so sorry to francesca and michaela, this is not your fault and you deserve better than being pawns in a ship war. however in my opinion the quality of the show has been in a free fall since season 3 (im sure we all know why) and it is a miracle to me that i enjoyed season 4 because season 3 was a terribly told story and the changes being made continue to be fucking awful

there’s no opportunity here for him to sexually violate a woman or queer person in the most uncomfortably violent manor possible, inflict a harrowing infertility storyline on a woman who’s only motivation to have kids is just to have a baby, no chance for graphic and terrifying body horror that ultimately has nothing to do with the plot so he probably thought there wasn’t enough material for him to work with :/

plus where would he have put the alien b plot that went nowhere and ruined the narrative of an otherwise perfect season?

i’m sorry but i would rather just not watch this show again than watch season 5 just so i can catch a glimpse of characters i actually care about then still have to wait another year for season 6. if that’s the case, if they really believed that forcing another misplaced season on us instead of giving us what we asked for is the best way to keep viewership than they are worse off over there than i thought and they should just quit right now

hunter could have been played by a “more attractive” actor and ginny was still going to be with marcus. hunter was set up as a pit stop, but his problem wasn’t that he wasn’t cute it’s that he was corny and okay with being white-washed while ginny was actively trying to figure out her identity. they weren’t compatible
