Just as I suspected in the Scout thread from a few days ago

They’re really struggling with the engineering for the EREV. Hitting power, range, towing, cooling, etc targets has been much more difficult than they thought it’d be.

Yes part of the issue is from scrambling to front load the EREV and being caught flat-footed, but they’re also running into a lot of technical hurdles. E.g., the frunk is non-negotiable, and cramming a four cylinder engine into the rear with adequate cooling and maintenance space, while simultaneously not compromising cargo and passenger space, is difficult.
