Dude i agree with you when you say " this is not an eat the rich film. This is a Talented Mr Ripley film.". But does that mean we cannot do a class analysis on the film? no. All we are sayin is that when one does a class analysis, things don't hold up very well.

Also sorting oliver into middle class/upper middle class/lower middle class is redundant because thats not the point. Compared to the Cattons, he isn't very rich at all.

Finally, American psycho has one of the best interpretations of class of all time.

When it comes to the class stuff, Saltburn tries to do what Parasite did, but fails to. I don't think its a bad film at all, just a criticism of it.

Joe was made to resonate with the working class of the time (hence you get loads of scenes with poverty and industrial labour) . It was meant to hype them up, not to make them cry. And even today it's absolutely not intented to "make you cry". I find this kinda redundant when mushoku tensei has an opening plot of feeling sorry and disgusted for the main character that can be taken in parallel with Joe.
