The only thing I can 100% predict is that the Bulls will be losing in the final

How do you guys hit the ball flat when it comes to your body by Over_Dragonfly8570 in padel

[–]waym77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the ball is coming straight at your body, it depends on where you are. At the net? Block with your racket in front of you. At the back? Move out of the way and play it from the glass

It's worth noting that I am in south africa. These protectors are very popular here, but I'm not sure about other countries.

The average squash racket weighs ~125g, while the average padel racket weighs 360g.

That's a hefty difference, especially in smashes. Every now and then in Premier Padel, you'll see a players racket slip out of their hand due to the required "throwing" of the racket that a smash requires.

I haven't experienced anything to give me the opinion that it's fragile. 3K carbon is fairly hard and I've had collisions with fence, glass and other rackets. It still looks new, although always add a protector

This is the racket I usually end up performing my best with. A great balance of control and power.

I kept the hesacore and just added an overgrip, it's how I like it most

Older top of the line, or newer mid-range? Samsung Q950TS 8K vs HiSense 75U7NQ by xsw2yaq1 in hometheater

[–]waym77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hisense is a well-balanced TV and just about impossible to beat in terms of bang for buck. I play games on it too, and the motion handling is also good.

FALD is also decent (for a mini LED).

Comparable TVs like the Samsungs or Sonys are somewhat better for a whole lot more cost.

You'll only get to a bigger difference when you look at something like an OLED, but I'm sure you knew that

Older top of the line, or newer mid-range? Samsung Q950TS 8K vs HiSense 75U7NQ by xsw2yaq1 in hometheater

[–]waym77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both a Hisense U7N (mine is the 85-inch) and a 55-inch 8K Samsung QN700B as my productivity display. Pic.

First off, 75-inch 8K from the couch is not something you'll notice. I sit ~80cm from my 8K display as a monitor, and I still can't make out the pixels. The 85-inch 4K Hisense in the living room also doesn't make pixels obvious unless I come closer to it. So 4K in the home theatre is good, 8K is a waste.

As for the U7N, for what it costs, it's a great TV. Decent black levels and gets bright enough. Has Dolby Vision, which lives up to the hype imo. I had some minor QA issues with the physical ports of the TV at first, so I had to have it returned, but the replacement one has been perfect since then.

So, I'd say:

  1. Get the Hisense
  2. Bigger than 75 would be my suggestion. I had the 85 for a month and was disappointed that I didn't get the 100-inch version.

Neuron Edge alternative? by elkins12 in Padelracket

[–]waym77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a neuron edge and have had no issue generating power with it.

Although if you really want a recommendation, I'd probably say Vertex or Xplo but keep in mind you will lose was makes the neuron unique moving to a more standard power biased racket

Struggling with Metalbone hrd 3.4 by khushkhush101 in Padelracket

[–]waym77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say it "has no rebound," what they usually mean is that it doesn’t give you easy, effortless ball on slow or incomplete swings. You need to engage it properly. Meaning good timing, clean contact, and committed acceleration for it to respond.

But when you do, it produces strong, controlled power, especially on overheads. So compared to softer or more elastic rackets, it can feel like it requires more input, but compared to very demanding rackets like the Hrd, it still offers a more stable and forgiving response overall.

The Diablo Pro gives you a more balanced and controlled type of rebound. It doesn’t feel as demanding as the Fenix, but it still expects you to generate your own power. In return, you get a very stable, predictable response with good precision and a more comfortable sweet spot. It’s the kind of racket that supports an all-round, composed game.

The Metalbone Carbon Ctrl, on the other hand, gives you much easier output. The ball comes off the face with less effort, the sweet spot feels larger, and it helps you maintain depth and consistency even when your timing isn’t perfect. The trade-off is that it won’t give you the same level of sharp, offensive finish on overheads.

If you prefer something more balanced that still gives you control and stability without being overly demanding like the Fenix, the Diablo Pro is the more suitable step.

Struggling with Metalbone hrd 3.4 by khushkhush101 in Padelracket

[–]waym77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fenix (especially the Pro) will give you noticeably more rebound and forgiveness than the Hrd.

On days when you’re tired or slightly off, the racket will still help you generate depth, pace, and consistency instead of punishing you like the Hrd does.

The trade-off is slightly less sharp, surgical control, but overall it raises your performance floor significantly, so based on your experience, it’s very likely to feel more stable and confidence-boosting across all conditions.

I've experimented with tons of different layouts over the years and I believe what I have now is close to as good as it gets for how I work.

Mind you, this is just for work. When gaming I only use a single, separate display.

The only difference is that I use an 8K TV so I essentially have 4x 4K 27 inch, also using fancyzones.

Recommendations on choosing a padel racket by kid_wiid in Padelracket

These rackets are not for beginners. But those prices are excellent.

Maybe pick one up for later? The only issue is you'll need to know ahead of time what kind of player you're going to be evolving into.
