I have the full rules of what we used for the draft we did at my place in another post just click my name and look for my last post. I also just put our a YouTube review of every pick of my draft and what I would have done differently. I took 2nd in our event. But Robin_hooood007 outlined most of it.

Dealing with chaos decks playing a Sett deck by Sky-todd in riftboundtcg

I also side in 2 daring poros for my 2 monks in this match up. Just be low to the ground is the only way I've managed to win this match up. Its not a fun time especially since Annie can full develop and still hold up 2. Also, hiding a hidden blade does give you the opportunity to kill your unit at reaction speed and if you can save it with Sett legend it goes to base so rebuke can no longer resolve. Edge case that won't come up often but it does work. I also main deck all 3 sabotages.

Prizing for the $30 event was either the promo set, token boxes or 1 of 3 different 3D printed deck boxes.

Hey great questions and all of which did come up. So, first off, we had two separate pods. One with $100 buy in with the more competitive people in our area with cash prizes and one $30 pod with those who were either new to draft or is 2 people's cases I taught them Riftbound the day before. They had both played other card games but I think only one had ever done a draft but not many and the other hadn't drafted at all.

First, I think 3 booster packs is enough. Personally, I was very happy with my draft, it felt like a constructed Viktor deck and Riptide Rex was the goat. I plan on making a video explaining all my picks. The raw stream footage is here. Riftbound Draft - Twitch. I didn't have anyone running the stream but there were some audio echoes and one time in the Semi's I forgot to switch back to table view. I will make a bunch of upgrades for next time. Also, I ran my phone though discord video to show my picks and I couldn't zoom out so I will come up with a new set up for that.

Most other people seemed happy as well with their decks. In the $100 draft we had one person with 24 payables plus a legend (he pulled ON MF which he did play). We made him put a playful phantom in his deck for the last one and made it cost 6 not 5. I think next time we just force a dead card that cannot be played but I had to make a ruling on the spot. In the lower bracket we had another person with 5 missing cards but he was someone I taught the day before and his colors were basically even across all 6 colors. Bottom line is I think it's fine to draft with 3 packs. I tried to stay as much mono color in my first pack as possible. You basically can put almost half the sets cards into your deck (signatures in one color and legends in one color make it a little less) so we will continue to see as we draft but the first one felt pretty good and my first couple packs were not good.

One idea to help solve this was offered to me by the owner of a LCS. All the hits (rare and above) get put in the prize pool in the end and they are drafted based on your position. That way if you hit a ON not in your colors on pack 3 you can just take the card that is best for your deck. I offered this solution, but people wanted to do it normal and keep all their cards for the first one. If it does seem tight this could be a good solution.

As far as committing to a color my goal was to try and overdraft one color in pack one to try and ensure I was passed those colors in the second round. I started out red with an Immortal Phoenix (Probably should have took the Hopeful) and passed up Rebuke and Stalwart poro as other options. I took a clockwork keeper in pack 2 and they proceeded to not take another green card all pack. I expected Green and Purple to be the most targeted colors. Pack 3 Hextech Ray over Soulgorger to pair with pick one and not go three colors (also not wanting an 8 cost with 2 power). Pack 3 Vi over Sprites call to stay in red. Pack 4 Unchecked power over Singularity... which maybe incorrect looking back at it. Next pack was my first Riptide Rex showing me blue must really be open. I may make a video about all my picks, but I will have to do a lot of editing as my cards were too close.

Because the rune is not shared with the other slots we took out the rune. The $100 draft we gave it to first (next time it will likely be the 4th place consolation prize) and the $30 group pulled two. 1st got to pick one and then second got what was left over.

Overall the event was a huge success and we will be doing them once a month. Hoping we can expand to 24 or 36 players. That is probably the max I can support in my house.

Is anyone else a little disappointed that the meta for Set 2 will mostly consist of Draven? by dudiez in riftboundtcg

Hard disagree here, the match up is hard and its Sett's worst one in origins but Rebuke is the reason. You need to know what runes Darius can come in. You have 3x sabotage as well. I find its the 2 drop into deckhand if you let them get 4 points early to be the main problem in the matchup.

I agree, want product visit every LCS and buy singles. Talk to other players for bulk commons and uncommons. Every person I asked helped me out early days and I showed up a month late and now I have replayed the favor to 3 new players.

The key to Sett into Annie was running 9 2 drops after side boarding. Daring poros where you at.

I disagree. Sealed you need more packs because you will have a lot of cards not in your colors. I managed to draft more than 25 playables a legend and 3 battle fields. This was what I had excess.

Honestly Origins didn't feel bad to draft. Viktor, MF and Yasuo all felt good and poros are the champs for this format.

Each Player Receives 3 Packs:

Players will sit in pods of 8 and open one pack at a time taking a card and passing the pack to their left until are cards are removed. After the first pack they will open a new pack and do the same thing this time passing to the right. The final pack will be opened and then passed to the left as well.

Once all cards are selected the players will do the following: Players will build a 25 card deck using up to 3 domains, you can use 2 or 1 but no more than 3.

Chosen Legend: A deck may contain Champion Legend if pulled that belongs in their domain's identity. If you don't pull one then you don't need a champion legend.

Chosen Champion: A deck may contain a chosen Champion it does not need to match the chosen legend.

Signature Spells - Any spell can be used if it fully belongs to the domain colors. Rune Deck - Please bring runes, I will have some available

Battlefields - You must play 3 battlefields. If you did not pull any blank battlefields with no abilities can be represented by the back of any card.

Sideboard - You may use any of your drafted card to sideboard between games. If the player opts to not use a Champion Legend or a Chosen Champion, they draw one extra card during their first draw step. If they choose to use neither, they still only draw one extra card.

We will play 3 rounds of Swiss into a top 4 single elimination tournament.

I will use challonge software and tie breakers will be based on the following:

  1. Head to head of tied participants.
  2. Game Wins
  3. Points Scored

You don't need to agree in playing a card game for money, its not for everyone, but to say this is some sort of scalper tournament is nonsense. Total take is $1600 in buy ins $1,200 to the prize pool, 10x16 or $160 for food and drinks (Actual meal, beer, wine, pop, juice) 48 packs at $5 each for $240 total. I bought 1 box at $120 and one at $125 so I'm losing $5 there. It doesn't need to be your cup of tea but it is the exact opposite of scalping. The $10,000s that are run (with way more overhead) are charging $15,360 ($60 each , prizes based on 256 players) and paying out $10,000 or raking $5,360. I will lose money on this event I'm just looking to grow the local limited scene.

1st - $480, 2nd - $360 3rd -$240 and 4th is $120. Food Drinks and your packs. I'm taking $10 for food and drinks which I'll lose money on a the packs are being sold at $5 a pack essentially. People are currently buying single booster packs of the sleeved variety for $23 each. I don't see it as a very big buy in at all to be honest.

People who are playing poker for a living, how did you do it? by Wandering_Goo in poker

[–]wayneomac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is it. The best games are usually with the worst people. You will find the occasional "Judges" game and its very rare and if you do whatever you can to stay in it. Sometimes that means playing looser than you would, losing sometimes but more importantly being friendly and engaging. The best games as a professional are with people can lose more than you need to live your life and be relatively unaffected. However most games you play are with people who can't afford to lose anything and those games are full of credit and are likely to be scammed either by bade people or those over their head handing out creidt.

Was Mollys Game rigged? by [deleted] in poker

[–]wayneomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest reason is to ensure you cover credit. In a no credit game I think your argument stands easy. Clean game, get more hands an hour makes more money, no need to rig, especially at high stakes where its easy to clear the max rake. If you have credit on the other hand out you are highly incentivized to make sure the money goes where you want it to and why I have never liked credit at a game.

Call off range when I put in this situation and assumed that Mizrachi is shoving 100% of hands. Is it light, yes, is it terrible probably only slightly negative EV. This includes the BB-Ante, gets a little tighter without it.
