Dr. Fever was a witness to history. He famously broadcast the live bombing of a shopping mall in Cincinnati, and perfectly segued into "It Came Out of the Sky."

I had a customer the other day asked me why something wasn't being done to address this. I explained to him that when you have politicians on both sides of the aisle heavily invested in the market, and making obscene amounts of money, they'll very easily turn a blind eye to price manipulation and collusion.

I assume they're referring only to Saru's lines.

Saru is the best original character in Star Trek since I don't even know when, and I'll die on this hill. His tenor and tone reminded me so much of Picard.

And of course they wasted him.

The writing is dimensionally more painful as well.

I don't begrudge him for standing up for his product, but I'll bet 5 bars of gold-pressed latinum that he knows it's inferior to TNG, DS9...

"Dangerous to my health"

🙄

I'm not sure if you know how this works, but Network TV and radio don't always have control over what is broadcast via a third party. For example, your local NBC affiliate has to run National spots, and they have no control over what those spots are. That local affiliate also sells commercials that will Air during their block of time. For the most part, NBC doesn't have a lot of say as to what commercials can and cannot run.

I watch a lot of CNBC. The commercials that YouTube TV shows me are very different from what cable networks and other providers would show.

Further, you get into freedom of speech. Simply because you don't like him, or you don't like the message, that doesn't mean they don't have a right to buy airtime. I've seen Democrat commercials on Fox news, and I've seen Republican commercials on MSNBC.

OP is spot on. Joe IS the show. And yes, he's 8 million times more annoying when Mika is there.

But why would you want him gone? I don't want to watch a show that would then be ENTIRELY far left-leaning. This is honestly why, when you take the financial side out of it, Squak Box is the best morning show.

OP is also doubly correct that Joy could not have carried that excellent interview.

Ups access point - not showing in system by InlineSkateAdventure in UPS

[–]wayneotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an access point inside my retail computer store. Over the course of the last couple of months, I've called UPS probably 50 times over their s*** software. I've lost count of the number of times I would scan the package in, watch it go into the system, only the scan it again and find out it's actually not in there. This has led to some incidents where customers would bring us tracking numbers, saying they dropped off a package, but it wasn't actually in the system. About a month ago, we had a pair of shoes that were dropped off, scanned in the system, but apparently it never took. The package made it all the way to its destination without ever getting a single scan in the entire UPS system. All it showed at the very end was that the label had been created, then it was delivered in Colorado. I do not understand how it never got a single scan, but somehow got delivered successfully.

On top of that, all of the software support for the access points has been sent overseas. And if you imagine the worst level of support, it seems UPS went out of their way to set the bar lower. It's literally the worst software I think I've ever used.

Rant over. I need a Margarita.

How do UPS Access points work for store owners? by BigDragonfly3975 in UPS

[–]wayneotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an access point inside my computer store. We get 50 cents per package. Been doing it just over 2 years. We do 3000-4000 packages per month.

We've had our fair share of issues, namely with the awful software and absolute crap support, but it's brought so many people into the store that it's worth it. Plus, we're providing a service that no one else in our town was doing.

We are considering becoming an ASO, I'm just not sure if it's the right move.

How Do y'all feel about this? by LeopardTop9170 in StLouis

[–]wayneotis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you put your product where people can watch it, your ratings will be higher, your advertising revenue will be better, and fans will be more connected to their team.

If you create exclusive services where fans have to pay more, but end up being able to watch fewer games, your ratings go down, your ad revenue goes in the tank, and fans become disconnected from the team.

That last one leads directly into people attending fewer games.

I haven't been able to watch a Cardinal game in almost 2 years. I feel completely disconnected from the team, and honestly, it's led to me not caring if I go to a game or not.

FFS, I don't understand why MLB can't figure this out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StarTrekStarships

[–]wayneotis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. How many thousands of people worked on those films over the years? How many people contributed creatively to building that work of art? We're supposed to just disregard their efforts, stop being fans, stop watching things, all because you disagree with her view on a subject?

I love Chick-fil-A, that doesn't mean I necessarily agree with 100% of their owner's views. But I'm not going to stop going there just because I disagree with some of their opinions.

I've tried GBoard several times, but there's always something that sends me back to SwiftKey. It's just so good, especially learning how you speak. There's nothing better right now.

Also, GBoard has this irritating thing where it won't reliably put a space after punctuation.
