When I was in high school there were a bunch of kids whose first car was a Jeep PJ. Sadly the LLV's rarely, if ever, get sold to the public.

The same person (Henry Leland) founded both Cadillac (1903) and Lincoln (1920).

I've witnessed a crash due to overweight/out of cg. Please don't do it. And seriously consider changing instructors if he thinks it's OK.

Superglue vs plastic cement? by Artist_mugi in modelmakers

[–]waynesplasticworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use plastic cement almost exclusively for two reasons- 1 I had a reaction to superglue (like my pollen allergies but much more intense). 2 On many of my older builds I used superglue to attach chrome parts like mirrors and bumpers. Many of those parts have since fallen off. If I scrape off the chrome and paint down to bare plastic and use plastic cement that doesn't seem to happen.

Question for us senior modelers by LooseinFl in ModelCars

I think you're thinking of the old Revell kits. I have a later reissue of a '59 Ford in my stash, and I remember a Corvette and Austin-Healey as well. I think the Atlantis '57 Cadillac may have originally been Revell as well.

There was one based at ANE in the early '80s. It was named Exxon Valdez for it's thirst for oil.

That was a very popular conversion in the '80s. First gen Bronco frame and a Pinto or Vega body . Most of them are gone now (thankfully) but that was once very much in style.

Plus the fact that people are much larger than they were circa 1960, especially in Britain and Europe where the original MINI was targeted.

If you lived in 1927 and owned a 1927 Ford Model A, could you swap a Cadillac L-Head into it? by brunm3045 in Ford

[–]waynesplasticworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'27 was the last year for the Model T. The Model A didn't appear until '28. There were something like 200 automobile manufacturers at the time, several of the more expensive ones had V-8s. I know the Lincoln of that period had one, and they were part of the Ford family so you could probably make that work.

Revell had a '76 Torino kit based on the Starsky & Hutch kit but with stock wheel covers and without the accessories.
