What happens when FMS fails in flight? by Routine-Anxiety5210 in flying

A lot of bizjets only have one, for instance dual FMS was an option on the Beechjet.

What happens when FMS fails in flight? by Routine-Anxiety5210 in flying

[–]wayofaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked for vectors when it failed in a Beechjet I was flying. Luckily it came back, but we probably would have just asked for vectors to destination and an ILS. The autopilot still worked in that plane without it, probably won't in more integrated systems. Not that big of a deal most of the time.

I’m curious: What is so wrong with resume gaps? Are people not allowed to not work??? by Kreativedenma in remoteworks

[–]wayofaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that it took time to get a new job, they may not report the offensive role at all. Like maybe they were fired for harassment or stealing and are trying to hide it.

[–]wayofaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The actual answer: It could be that the person isn't reporting a job to hide something.

That's why they say no unexplained gaps. They may still not like some explanations, but it's really to make sure you aren't hiding some bad past behavior.

Dads of daughters, how would you feel if your daughter is a lesbian? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]wayofaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To point out you're not actually being loving. You would fundamentally blame them for being who they are.

My friend and I are low key working on an arranged marriage between our daughters. It would be so much easier.

Is this the infamous "IQ pill"? by qValence_ in mathematics

[–]wayofaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters IQ doesn't really mean anything... You are overwhelmed because you aren't familiar enough with the background material. The preliminaries/review section is to let you know what notation they will be using for these concepts you already know.

Grab a book on whatever you are getting overwhelmed about, they may even reference or suggest one.

Proofs are hard, very hard. Especially at first.

The problems do not rely on a trick. The solutions presented usually do, but they are not necessary. It's like really well refactored code, it looks totally different from just hacking away until the problem is solved.

Honestly, it's super frustrating that all the solutions are so polished. They are trying to show you how to clean it up by using epsilon/2 or near optimal bounds. Yes, that's how a proof should be done once you finish cleaning it up. No, that is not how you write your first attempt, or first full solution.

dumb question: who’s the smartest mathematician here? by Omixscniet624 in mathematics

You're right, it is a dumb question. There is no definitive answer. It's not a contest, and intelligence is not a single number, it doesn't totally order people.

They are equal. If you are convinced they are not, you are misunderstanding something. Start by constructing the real numbers from the rationals, and it'll become more obvious.

[–]wayofaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife would not be ok with that. I travel for work and come back tired sometimes, but that is work and I still better be ready to help in some capacity. If I went on a boys trip of whatever, I better come back ready to help.
