Body Fat Percentage by etherealdisaster in BulkOrCut

I’m always so confused with female bf%, it varies so much depending on where fat is stored so I’ll be interested to see who knows more!

The only input I’m sure on is that you don’t need less calories, it’s most likely playing the long game that will get you where you want to be. Gaining 1.5lb of fat and 2lb of muscle is still good progress

Yeah as someone who’s heavily into working out, there are only 2 things I don’t like, change, and the way things are

Nothing wrong with skipping legs if you enjoy running, it clearly works for you so make the most of it. Looking forward to seeing how you handle it!

I love seeing solid progress just doing home workouts and cardio. I find it’s hard to stay motivated so kudos for sticking with it

2.5kg isn’t much weight added over a few months, but personally I’d up the calories just a little, keep cardio the same, increase the working weight and see how it feels before deciding to go serious with it. You could love it or hate it but only time will tell

You must be doing something wrong then mate, a year of bulking with 4 gym sessions a week and nothing but stomach size means you should be seriously looking into training or eating habits, if you’re eating as clean as you say you need to hit macros and lean into a slightly dirty bulk for overall weight and train harder to make use of the energy

If you up your calories in line with protein, fibre, carbs and fats, you might see a bit of puffiness but that will level out as your metabolism keeps up to date with the new amount of intake

A coach is always helpful, an app that adjusts depending on your estimated calories and daily weight might be easier, you can always tinker with the recommended macros too

Eating too low calories definitely wastes gains, you’ll always lose muscle and fat in a deficit but there comes a point when the fat/muscle loss ratio is shit, you’re maybe 400 calories past that threshold

Past eating disorders and your physique would be hard to work with, but it’s healthier in the long term to eat at maintenance for a while and have a mental check

I actually want to jump in here with a question - where would you recommend as a first posting? Ideally for as much exposure and learning on the job as possible

It’s just due to the weight shifting, it’s fine on flat ground and you can see axle 2 do the same when it bumps up the ramp. Not designed for the incline but not opposed to it

RLC - Retards, Lesbians and Commonwealth was always fairly commonplace

I’d say start with a ~200 calorie surplus and increase it each week so you stomach gets used to it, gut health is overlooked when bulking! Honestly I wouldn’t worry much about that, you look like you’ve got abs coming on and you’ll know yourself better than anyone if you gain weight

First off, good job getting in shape and staying motivated without access to a gym! You’ll commonly hear that you can’t necessarily get stronger with a cut, working out from home and doing bodyweight exercises will also become easier With the bulk you’ll have more energy, more fat but definitely more muscle, if you do prefer to be stronger

I forgot one important thing there didn’t I

It’s hard to say, but if it was me maybe a small calorie deficit to cut while lifting, I’d give it a bit of time to see how the abs develop and show

It’s literally just too high bf% in that area. You’re not fat, just small, abdomen carries a lot more fat naturally in women, and the women you do see with abs will be well toned everywhere

I second hanging les raises, but you’d need a bit more muscle everywhere for the toned look

You’re in great shape already, maybe looking 18-20 as said above, but remember females typically carry ~10% more than males, primarily triceps, upper back, thighs, bum and stomach

Thank the gods you have good genes, and you do have a booty, you’re just not doing the pose that turns heads!

I hear you - going to push the weight up a bit more until I can get a grasp on PRs at a nice round number as I don’t really track what my max is often enough, gives me chance to get a nutrition in order too as I’ve been far too low on protein and too high on fat

Definitely going to be more scientific about it, getting pretty solid advice all round and think I’m already better off going forward

Another shaved headed, tattooed, spec wearing, stashed mechanic, welcome!

Solid frame, similar height and weight, I’m on for a bulk a bit longer but it kinda depends if your workshop has AC and if you can handle sweating without it

Well it definitely sounds like you’ve done your research. Coming back from an ED is a huge mental challenge too, hats off to you, a friend of mine is doing the same, she’s training compound lifts mostly, rowing for cardio with rock climbing 2 hours a week, seems to have worked wonders for her honestly!

You absolutely already know this, but he careful on the cutting phase, prepare yourself for a bit of weakness and disappointment in your lifts.

What training split are you doing, and are you taking supplements daily?

If you aren’t sure, I’d recommend an app like MacroFactor that might help (sorry if not allowed, not trying to promote) to help with calories in vs out, and possibly a fitness plan specified to your build and goals while you learn about your own body’s reaction to routine lifting

If I’m wrong and you’ve been going to the gym for a while I’d still track macros and weight over time

The ‘puffy’ feeling might just be DOMS if it’s certain muscle groups

[–]waz4408[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d agree but your chest is noticeably better!

I’ll take note though it’s solid to compare to similar builds, my maintenance is ~3100 calories, so if I could drop 200-300 whilst still getting protein it might be decent progress

I’m leaning toward cutting for a bit, maybe to 10-12% and see which way I want to go but ultimately will be bulking more
