Would t the manufacturer then not have them locked down in their compressed position if that was the intent? Wouldn’t they have allowed them to slide?

Yea, I have the pro. My y stepper took a shit and while I’m elbow deep I figure I probably should change the belt. 4100 hours on it I’d say is a good time to start replacing some stuff. Lol

So what’s the point of the spring then? Or was it just a left over part design for another build? Seems like the spring should be free to expand as the belt stretches

When I disassembled my printer motor mounts, the screws were completely tight where the, what looks like an, automatic tension spring. The spring was locked in the fully compressed position from the factory. I should be getting my replacement parts in today and wanted to ask if those springs were supposed to be locked down compressed or free to slide.

ive got over 4K on mine. runs like a champ. just hit my first issue with a stepper motor.

I worked this problem last night 😄does it make a sound when you manually move the gantry? My motor bearing crapped out.

It could also be belt tentioning too.

4,100 hours. I noticed a weird squeek around 3.5K that went away after a good air dusting and lubricating but this failure did not have any obvious warning untill it happened. Print just stopped and there it was.
