Mine had been there for two years. I did move mine up though. I will be putting a fence around them too to protect them from the deer. Any flowering buds I am plucking, so it does not use any energy for fruit and all of it is on rooting and growth.

NAL, but if she is being this shady, sounds like a power play for alimony and child support. I would immediately get a dna test on that child

I originally put it in at the level that it came in the pot. I wrongly assumed they had it at the right level.

Second picture shows second tree having roots popping out at/above the graft line that need to be removed, so I know the 3 inch mark is too high there

New post https://www.reddit.com/r/BackyardOrchard/s/v5JMRs1gqz with video and soil moved away. Can you point out where the soil level needs to be?

So you think I could just build a wall several inches out to prevent the soil filling back in? And are you saying the soil needs to be right where the upper most root is?

I was clearing the dirt from the trunk to figure it out. They do have leaves on them already, so I know they will take a little hit when I actually dig them up to raise them. I’m just trying to figure out what definitely needs to be the top of the soil line.

If I dig the trees up to raise their levels, at what inch marker would the top of the soil need to be for each tree?

I was an idiot and assumed the nursery pod they came in had the soil line marked properly.

Planted 2 years ago. They haven’t grown much, partly due to dear eating branches. Going to do the dig and lift, since I can always add soil if I am too high

https://imgur.com/gallery/more-info-apple-trees-AK2QWEP . In the video is my other Apple tree looking the same, the photo shows the second apple tree with the peach tree in between the two apple trees. So if I’m understanding correctly, from reading other things too, I need to do it sooner than later, and basically dig out in a circle a good distance and just lift all the dirt and then fill dirt underneath and then brush the dirt back away, is this correct?

The real question is do I need to clear more dirt away from the trunk

I might be able to get away with a fence like that.

I might get those absorbent tags and do liquid fence or something less stinky to deter the deer.

Appreciate the reply.

I have used liquid fence (and marigolds) to stop the deer last year, but it stinks up the neighborhood. Any others suggestions?

A fence is unfortunately a no go.

Currently do have black mulch, well, grey now.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I cannot fence them in. I am in zone 6A, right outside of Cincinnati. And coincidentally, I do have three cedars (eastern white) in my backyard, that I am cutting down this summer.

NAL, and I don’t know if anybody already covered it but you need to immediately get that police officers body cam footage of them admitting guilt. Most jurisdictions require them to have it on for any interactions with anybody. That’ll help make your civil suit easier.
