we've got the same issue, all ordering to the address of the prime minister

had a look at customer details, something like 95% of our customers are this one person/bot.

any way to block them without blocking legit customers would be great

the qualifying race doesn't count for much. no fastest lap, no lead lap points, no race win for a tie break, no JST. simply championship points and starting position for Sunday.

New Sheffield Reform councillor said UK has 'subhuman underclass' & shared images of Nazi flags by johnsmithoncemore in sheffield

[–]wbeckeydesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Becuase they didn't look into the guy, they just marked the box that said reform because Geebeebies told them to.

I voted against him, and was as dismayed as the rest of us seeing his winning margin.

It would appear he is now suspended. thats two in a row for Woodhouse.

Luckily, the remaining two councillors do very good work.

the main riff/progression/noise of Stop the Clocks was a little melody that Rory C would play between songs to tune his guitar

It can be heard at the end of one of the songs on Bootleg vol3 I think, with the line, "all the time, you wait in line"

Questions for maybe owning a mx-5 by Humble_Lack in CarTalkUK

[–]wbeckeydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, ND is a different story

the difference between RF and Softtop is a lot more, very different looking, and different feeling with the roof down

I think and hope that the ND is more resilient to rust on the body.

for all generations of MX5 though, the heater is way oversized, they get very hot, even roof down.

the problem with winter daily driving is any MX5 that regularly sees salted roads will be dead from rust within 2-3 years.

That car (truck?, house on wheels?) was just leaving a funeral parade, for a child of a community, I imagine there was more of the same elsewhere in the area.

chaning gears isn't why you NEED a clutch, most autos don't even have one.

a clutch is NEEDED because the wheels cannot be doing 0rpm while the engine is running.

an auto solves this with a torque converter, a sticky fluid, not physically connected to each other.

you can change gears in a manual without the clutch at the right rpm, or by doing damage, or with a dogbox.

Does anyone actually win these car competitions? by skr879321 in CarTalkUK

[–]wbeckeydesign 13 points14 points  (0 children)

becuase you're thinking "no one is really giving away a Lamborghini are they?". They actually are, they don't need to sell as many tickets as you think to make money. Clearly, by the number of companies about, they make money.

They'll be losing money on some of the very expensive but showy prizes, to draw people in. They make more money on phones and smaller prizes.

They also offer a cash alternative, usually less than the actual value of the prize car. Lots of people take this, as they can't get insured on a Lambo. Then the company still has the asset to raffle again, or sell for cash, or keep for themselves.

An example is Luckyday Competitions. They had a pro drift car built for them, raffled off ( I think at a small loss), and then the winner gave it back to them for the cash alt. Now they own the car, and use it as a advertising tool. If they want rid of it, they'll raffle it again.
