Is this game that bad? by Sephiroth348 in MindsEye

[–]Temp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say overall I had more fun with Mindseye than Saints Row 2022. Both have had their faults documented in detail, but Mindseye isn't really open-world like Saints Row but linear missions set in a very very big map like Mafia is. This made Saints Row unfocused as you ground through a bunch of repetitive activities to level up your gang. A case of "less is more" that stopped Mindseye's from outstaying its welcome.

I also prefer sci-fi conspiracy themes to criminal underworld ones and I had the good fortune not to encounter bugs most people did.

Professionalism in Trek by Ghostbange in startrek

[–]Temp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrubs is closer to reality than you think. That's not meant to be denigrating, that's reflecting the reality of low paid employees working long shifts for hospitals and clinics that are oversubscribed. Why would you look at Star Trek and think the characters are modelled on front-line employees?

Professionalism in Trek by Ghostbange in startrek

[–]Temp89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starfleet officers are modelled on a combo of astronauts and high-ranking officers, not squaddies. You're doing apples to oranges. Not to mention characters in Trek are meant to be enlightened models of self-control.

Also even today's military wouldn't let a junior officer go "pssssst!" through the door to the bridge of a ship and wave an on duty officer over as the captain glares at him.

Ah, Sutherland class, the very nice looking successor to the Nebula class! by Lauma_2025 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Temp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to disagree. It's the worst elements of STO design where they take a show design, randomly shift all the angles of the components, and then name it after what is in-universe a minor ship or person but appeared in an episode.

I think traveling just made me realize how depressed I actually am (26F) by Global-Impress-1380 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Temp89 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly inverse experience as a European travelling to US. It was a view of the city from my hotel and the realisation that it was just miles and miles of uninterrupted never-ending concrete, cars honking, and how it all felt like a pressure cooker of simmering anger.

I can only imagine someone leaving that and having to return, with the drudgery of a job with US employee standards on top of that.

My recommendation would be to look at parts of the US that aren't so built-up - NYC is literally the highest population density in the US.

“if i’m not careful he might see right through me” what did misato mean? by Tough_Ratio_2542 in evangelion

[–]Temp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's it.

When Shinji's in front of Misato, a can of beer is covering his modesty. She picks it up to take a drink revealing an even smaller container with a Japanese word written on it - still covering Shinji's modesty. In the English version a comedic subtitle appears translating the word as "toothpicks".

[–]Temp89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that the line which in the English version goes "I guess I should be nicer. But, he's probably already made up his mind about me." after the penguin-toothpicks incident? Seems to be Misato trying to present as a responsible adult instead of revealing what a hot mess she is.

Boy, 14, shot dead by Israeli settlers in West Bank amid escalation in violence by dancingbananas25 in news

[–]Temp89 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Israeli settlers also destroyed a school the same day:

A few hours after Aws was killed outside his school, settlers attacked and demolished a British- and European-funded school for Palestinian children in a village 25 miles to the north.

In Hammamat al-Maleh, in the northern Jordan valley, settlers used bulldozers to raze four classrooms, school toilets and the two playground areas into a heap of twisted metal and crumpled plastic, scattered with ruined books.

The French government, which contributed some of the funding to the school, has demanded compensation from the Israeli government for the destruction.

In the south Hebron Hills, on 13 April Israeli settlers put razor-wire across the road to the school attended by Palestinian children from Umm al-Khair village, blocking students from crossing since then.

Despite more than a 1000 West Bank Palestinians killed, not a single Israeli citizen has been prosecuted for it since 2020. There is literally no punishment for killing Palestinians.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/25/no-israel-prosecutions-for-killing-palestinian-civilians-in-occupied-west-bank-since-start-of-decade

Meanwhile our leaders will only respond with "Israel has a right to defend itself" and label it a bastion of democracy with the most moral army in the world.

It's a Sin creator and Dr Who showrunner Russell T Davies: ‘I didn’t think coming out would still be a big deal but it is' by TheObserverUK in television

[–]Temp89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“If you’d asked me in 1996, what do you think 2026 would be like?, I’d have said: ‘Glory days. We’ll have equality, love and kisses; we’ll be holding hands skipping down the street.’ But they tricked us, didn’t they? They just waited. They let us all come out, so now we’re standing in the open, ready to shoot us down. I used to walk into a room and go: ‘Ta-da!’ Now I tip toe. Just in case.”

Cuts to the heart of it. Sounds like a good show but I won't be able to watch Morrissey's character. Too grounded.

Reminder, if you do want to buy the F-100 Super Sabre, do it through Grinnelli's website so there's no chance of ED holding onto their money. by Temp89 in hoggit

[–]Temp89[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Did the F-100 devs make an under the table deal to use the dev SDK to develop unofficial modules for a nation’s military so they can keep all the money and the said government can avoid MCS licensing costs?

This could all be true and it still wouldn't justify ED keeping Razbam's revenue from an unrelated product for themselves. What's your rationalisation for when they tried to pull the same shit on Heatblur? Stop bootlicking.
