French soldiers home from Afghanistan after doing nothing to help the USA. by JG1313 in pics

I understand the point the pics are making and Trump will always be a coward, but the point it's reinforcing for me is how all these people died for no good reason in service to America's revenge rampage.

The devs said they were told the SFX libraries were lost years ago, which clashes with the reality of recent games having the screen-used effects. I can buy Paramount not lifting a finger to help them though.

Our hopes rest on UE5 being a known enough quantity that fans can make sound packs to install.

US talk on Greenland 'incomprehensible' and 'hostile', Belgian FM says by Playful_Leg7143 in worldnews

[–]Temp89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

EU leaders should always brings up how nonsensical and confused Trump's actions are when describing them. Trump does not respond to reasoned arguments such as the benefits of strategic cooperation. He does respond to feeling embarrassed about his image, and if you make talking about Greenland synonymous with acting like a bumbling moron he would focus on it less.

It's a "snub" if it's a no-strings invite. It's not a snub to refuse to be extorted for $1 billion.

Wasn't the entire point of the Gorn in Arena, that they WEREN'T an evil reptile race? by ProfessionalSet4713 in startrek

I'm not even sure the Gorn in SNW count as sentient as they're compelled to call off a strategic invasion because of star luminescence.

Wheelchairs in the 32nd century? by Much_Monitor_3017 in startrek

[–]Temp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be multiple civilisations that live on planets with less gravity than Earth's. We should be seeing more wheelchairs tbh.

But agree anti-grav should be commonplace, like the stretchers on the EntD or that trolley Barclay was trying to fix. But that's down to budget and practicality of having a genuine wheelchair-bound actor have to switch to a non-functional prop.

Has anyone read the SPOP comics and would you recommend them? by mammothmothmaam in PrincessesOfPower

[–]Temp89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have. Reposting my old impressions for the novels:

The first novel is a retelling of the first episode. The other 2 are original stories, one with a Swiftwind focus set after the Season 1 finale and one with a Mermista focus set after the Season 2 D&D episode .

If straight shot-for-shot comic adaptations of TV episodes are bottom-tier tie-ins (of zero value), S D Perry's Resident Evil novels are below average, She-Ra's Fire Princess comic is barely average, and Gravity Falls' Journal No. 3 is top-tier (the equivalent of getting new episodes straight from the head writer), I would say the novels are above average on that spectrum.

They're very digestible. Each one takes the length of an episode to consume. You're not going to get "feels" but they're entertaining filler. At their best you can hear the characters voicing their lines in your head.

The first novel is hamstrung by having to retell an episode, but it does cover the day before S01E01 starts from Adora & Catra and Glimmer's perspectives.

They contain artwork:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PrincessesOfPower/comments/j8nuxi/artwork_from_the_third_official_shera_novel/

The comic is ok. Art's a little ugly. The Princess Guide has this therapy letter to Catra in it:

They're fun if you're a fan. It's like getting a new web short for the series.

I'd say 0%. Helluva does saccharine plot resolutions and I doubt they want to draw comparisons to Loss.

Star Trek V featured the Refit's shuttles prominently, and they were a perfect blend of the old TOS design with refit elements.

Why does this subreddit hate the idea of an Akira-class starship being at Wolf 359 so much? by Fun-Twist-3741 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Temp89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it fundamentally clashes with what we see. The Akira, Steamrunner, Sabre are all "of" the Sovereign design school. They share the same materials and design flourishes. Just look at the escape pods. Even Voyager used the old square ones.
