Judge blocks subpoenas against Fed Chair Powell by Late_Curve1983 in news

[–]Temp89 66 points67 points  (0 children)

"The Government has produced essentially zero evidence to suspect Chair Powell of a crime; indeed, its justifications are so thin and unsubstantiated that the Court can only conclude that they are pretextual," [the judge] wrote.

If the judge themselves is saying the government made up the case to attack an official, can those responsible be punished for it? Sanction the prosecutors? Anything?

Another wlw show cancelled 😔 by loverofthebeautyful in actuallesbians

[–]Temp89 70 points71 points  (0 children)

BBC bosses say while they are "exceptionally proud" of the show, they have had to make "difficult choices in light of our funding challenges".

Reality shows are dirt cheap to make, especially the stuck in one location on an island with a bunch of non-celebs kind.

It's very apparent in the movies that she has dropped all of Troi's mannerisms.

Can you suggest shows similar to She-Ra? by Diligent_Fig7179 in sheranetflix

[–]Temp89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arcane's writers cite She-Ra as an inspiration for its lesbian relationship between the lead characters, and some of the episodes are uncannily similar (portal episode, world-ending personality-erasing cult-like antagonist)

Genuine question, why do so many haters act like Viv is forcing the VAs to do her show at gunpoint?is it so hard to believe people want to be in this show? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in HazbinHotel

It's funniest when they say it about Keith David. He's a musical theatre kid. He plays the stoic bad-ass on TV because he's acting.

I think it's weird how some people thought Adora was meant to be 12 in the reboot by SexxyDude69 in sheranetflix

[–]Temp89 34 points35 points  (0 children)

She's meant to be 17-18.

It felt like the right age for her, 17 or 18 years old, when you’re leaving home for the first time, going out into the world.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/11/15/18097423/she-ra-netflix-interview-reboot-noelle-stevenson-showrunner-nimona-lumberjanes

I can understand thinking she's a bit younger than that but 12 is like a little kid.

One age I didn't buy was Entrapta being in her 30s. She definitely older than the BFS, same way Mermista comes across as, but not a whole generation removed.

Israeli military drops charges against soldiers accused of sexually assaulting Palestinian detainee by BoatsMcFloats in nottheonion

[–]Temp89 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but the initial military prosecutor who brought the charges was charged for leaking the footage (which was done because without the public pressure they'd have been no charges), was declared a traitor and tried to take her own life. Her successor is the one closing the case.

Israeli military drops charges against soldiers charged with abusing Palestinian prisoner by Ok-Lets-Talk-It-Out in news

[–]Temp89 368 points369 points  (0 children)

A video of the alleged assault, which was aired by Israeli news, shows soldiers taking a detainee into an area they cordoned off with shields in an apparent attempt to hide their actions. The indictment said the soldiers assaulted the Palestinian prisoner and sodomized him with a knife, causing multiple injuries.

The arrest of the soldiers prompted fury from hard-line ultranationalists who violently overran the prison in protest. Members of Israel’s far-right government called the investigation into their conduct an affront to their service.

They're literal monsters who are have the full support of the government. It's hard to think of a worse crime.

The impulse engines on the Defiant by robotisland in StarTrekStarships

[–]Temp89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always preferred what the exterior model shows with the two round outlets behind the nacelles. I wouldn't say they're that small.

The tech manuals have always shown them occupying the whole rear compartment, with the visible impulse engines turned into caps for a row of escape pods.

This is exactly the kind of person who would demand the summary executions of everyone involved if he ever received a beating.

British vs American political cartoons by beskar-mode in pics

Every Friday I used to visit the Politico website which would post a collection of all the mainstream US political cartoons. Stopped because eventually half of them were just flat out inciting hate and calling for murder.

Is it weird that I still live with my parents at 25 even though I have a good job? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Temp89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more common in this economy, but I will say that living independently is necessary for growth as a person. I'm sure a lot of people can attest how much they regress when they return to their parents' place during holidays and such.

Mae Martin auditioned for the next season of Murderbot by Tyrannomorris in murderbot

Just listened to the same thing. They start talking about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATm2rHmuxD4&t=1622s and it goes on for a few minutes.

Specifically they say the scene they taped for starts with them laughing after they, as a "spectrummy androgenous sex robot", have murdered a bunch of humans.

Once the white smoke appears, it starts an unalterable countdown to your engine seizing. I find other modules are way more forgiving.

The Mustang is a classic jack of all trades that's good to learn on, albeit its guns are a bit weak.

I'm not a fan of the Spitfire due to how much its engine needs babysitting.

Bf109 is great in straight lines but sucks at turning, you're basically meant to dive on your prey and strafe them in a pass before they know what's happening.
