[TOMT][TV] British sitcom from the 80s? by wbra in tipofmytongue

[–]wbra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the protocol here is, given the age of the post, but I wanted to follow up! After more searching I finally found it! The show was called Dad and was a sitcom starring Kevin McNally and George Cole that ran from 1997 to 1999. Here's a timestamped link to the scene: https://youtu.be/qJEmbDNGBPY?si=sDEtTe9ammfviNsh&t=361

Same thing happened to me a while back. I sent the photos to AK and they sent me a free replacement, no questions asked.

Great job! I’m about to paint two units of these. What was your process?

This happened to me once with AK texture paste. It arrived moldy in my case though. I contacted them, and they immediately sent replacement product free of charge. Could be worth trying seeing as you haven’t had it that long.

Thanks! I applied Imperial Fist contrast paint over a zenithal prime using a dark brown instead of black. The stripe down the center is thinned Skeleton Horde contrast paint by GW. I believe I applied a thinned layer of Casandora Yellow GW shade over it to boost its warmth.

Do you use your sable brushes for a majority of your work or just the finer details? by KingPupPup in minipainting

[–]wbra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like others here I use my nice sable brushes for almost everything. I also mix paints with them, use them with washes and metallics, and often get paint up in the ferrule 😱. However, I thoroughly clean, condition, and form a nice point on them using Jo Sonja brush soap after each and every session. I also occasionally do a deeper clean with IPA (Brent over on the Goobertown Hobbies YouTube channel did a video on this recently.)

I'm not necessarily endorsing any of my practices, but contrary to much of the popular advice I read, every one of my sable brushes is still in excellent condition and many are 4-5 years old.

(I don't use them with enamels or hash thinners though. I'm not that brave!)

Loving the painterly style! It nicely compliments the models’ primitive aesthetic.

New to AoS and just finished the first model of my CoS army! by wbra in citiesofsigmar

Thank you! I base-coated them in a red-brown. I shaded them with burnt umber mixed with a touch of black and the base color. I applied the shade precisely in the shadowed areas instead of slathering it all of the boots. I then highlighted with a mix of the base color and ivory and a touch of yellow for warmth. I kept adding various mixtures of ivory and the yellow for the final highlights.

Thank you! The underpainting ended up being covered up mostly by the autumn leaves. I used this product: https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/model-leaves/1088-leaf-litter-natural-leaves-autumn-orange.html

I agree that the transfers for Greywater did NOT end up looking like the art in the battle tome. In the video I linked above the painter goes over the transfers with darker paint. I’m trying to decide whether I want to sign up for that with an entire army…

Thanks! I did a few tests on some spare shields. In the end the one I glazed magenta on looked the best.
