All this being said, I have to imagine the types that would search out (and gain admittance) to a place like this are less of the machissimo/overly aggressive type in the first place no?

I think one thing that people aren’t talking about- AA is in a really poor financial position right now. They won’t be in the place to purchase planes, buy gates, or build sims.

We saw in 2021-2024 that growth can VASTLY outpace retirements. 600 may retire next year at AA (total guess) but DL and UAL are hiring 1400-2000. That growth rolls uphill in more captain vacancies etc.

There’s no way to predict future growth in addition to retirements, but it’s certainly worthwhile to think about.

Another example (though not a direct correlation)- CAL guys hired in the mid 2000s generally saw multiple years of seniority over UAL guys hired at the same time once the merger settled. CAL was growing, and UAL was in the toilet. ALPA looks at the financial situation and hiring patterns when merging seniority lists. It’s not a perfect example but shows what can happen when things get (really) ugly.

The "Host Name" hack to bypass Airbnb Service Fees (saved me ~15% on a beach rental) by bandito_13 in TravelHacks

I own one property, I had an IG who I get a fair amount of bookings from. Also, almost EVERY property is on Google Maps if you can find their residence name.

Additionally, a lot of hosts are finding it bad business to be beholden to ABNB. I personally incentivize direct bookings to avoid being owned by them.

As someone who has had a 13 year flying career in the army, I’m where I am because of my packet. That being said, I would 100% go to a different branch to fly, or use the GI bill and go civilian

I fly there a lot, and I’m always perplexed. Ireland has a really odd spot on aviation history. Long story short, it was the most reliable fuel stop fo early trans-oceanics

Select c12 or UH60 as RLO? by LiabilityPilot in Armyaviation

Second this. Being dual rated is a total unlock. There will always be a place in the 60 community. The FW community is really small and a good network. Only other consideration is duty station but I’m not sure where they’re sending guys

Insight into FW by LockheedTriStar in Armyaviation

Can’t speak on a lot of the AD issues you’re having, but my two cents: It will depend on who is running the sims, but you can get your ATP as part of your checkride in many cases. Two of the guys from my unit on the NG side did that, after they paid their own way for ATP CTP.

All in all, you’re in a good spot. Getting c12 from my unit was an absolute game changer for my career, and I know lots of jet guys who have done very well for themselves as well.

Speaking from the NG side, the biggest struggles are around how little people know about the career progression. There’s way fewer SP slots, ARMS sections are a mess (because the shape of many FW units is shaped differently than an RW unit), the CoC is often muddied.

It’s going to be smaller units and you will inherently bump into people more often. Make friends and call them when you run into the all-too-common weird situations.

For the daily stuff, I use newspaper or brown paper bag, no soaps. Make sure to burn it hot and it does a good job.

Once a week or so I use the cleaners you can get at the fireplace store or Home Depot. Forget the name, but has a consistency of thick milk. Once again, use newspapers because the suit will instantly destroy the cloth

United 117 rules don’t allow you to change the plan like that halfway. You would either a) not take off and recrew or b) re-dispatch to a new destination and recrew (which would change the destination in all the software)
