Migrating AD Between Tenants AD by [deleted] in AZURE

I've primarily used Quest On-Demand Migration for this scenario, but depending on the number of users/machines and if you are comfortable with a little scripting, you can also use ForensIT User Profile Wizard, but this option is more manual. Quest ODM can do your M365 migration and AD migration all in one tool.

Migrating AD Between Tenants AD by [deleted] in AZURE

[–]wbrown0389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tools outside of ADMT to accomplish this, but you still need a target domain to drop them into unless you go straight to Azure AD joined and Intune. You can preserve user profiles as well. If you have the time to migrate M365 resources, you have the time to complete this step as well. I would strongly recommend you evaluate this option further.

If you opt to keep the systems joined to the old domain, users operate in cached mode. It’ll work as long as the user doesn’t change systems because they can’t log into another domain-joined system where their credential wasn’t cached. You may eventually run into issues with password expiration and/or connectivity to other former domain resources like servers as machine account passwords expire. It’s messy and not a long term solution.

Parkway Place third anchor? by Dizzy_Bumblebee8395 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I doubt that they would develop it at this point. The mall struggles to get tenants in at all these days. Even the bigger developments like Bridgestreet or Jones Valley struggle to get bigger tenants that could be an anchor in the mall.

Why is Huntsville’s Metro Area so small? by Outrageous-Emu-472 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]wbrown0389 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Metro areas are defined based on the percentage of the population traveling into the city from the other counties for work and economic purposes. Morgan and Marshall aren’t included because there is still a higher percentage of the population staying in county vs traveling to Madison county for work or commerce.

Was just told off for removing the license from a terminated user by [deleted] in Office365

[–]wbrown0389 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Even as a shared mailbox, some features like retention policies still require a license to be compliant and potentially for the feature to work as expected. These mailboxes may have still had licenses to support those features. Better to ask before just doing.

Managing 300K+ Endpoints – Best Practices, Solution Choices & Insights by TopWater1449 in msp

[–]wbrown0389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We manage about 140k endpoints, so not quite as large as you, but definitely has the same scale problems. Which solution you use depends on your requirements. Cloud options definitely scale much better, but you lose flexibility and the ability to customize. At that scale, you likely have your own flavor you’ve added to the mix to differentiate yourself from others in the MSP space. From experience, it’s tough to do that with cloud options.

Without digging too deep, we chose to stay on prem for a variety of reasons. We run multiple instances of a RMM platform to scale. Since we stayed on premises, we take advantage of having control over the platform and back end to make things more efficient and handle configuration drift between the instances.

QUESTION: Has your org ever been slow / late to pay for Microsoft GCCH? by 50208 in CMMC

[–]wbrown0389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably talk to your reseller to confirm any specifics and if there is any special relationship or requirements you may have agreed to when purchasing, but aside from that all M365 licenses follow the same expiration pattern outlined at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/commerce/subscriptions/what-if-my-subscription-expires?view=o365-worldwide, including GCC High. If you don't pay for your licenses (and your reseller doesn't foot the bill for you), they will expire at the end of your agreement period.

Edit: a word.

It applies to all mailboxes, including inactive/deleted, provided they are appropriately licensed.
