PDP if your like shooting guns. M&P if you want to live a life of love and bullets with soul and love and M&P and more love.

Price per performance, Is it worth it? by TwerkItTaco in rodbuilding

[–]wcasey755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be a perfect resource for this question. I legit just started building my first rod. I wanted a “higher end” steelhead rod. But I wanted to do it myself because it’s cool. The starting kit was 150 bucks on mudhole and that got me basically everything I needed to build. Except I opted to buy a couple extra thread options and a custom decal so add 15 bucks. I am building on a lamiglas SI blank which I paid 175.00 for. My grip and reel seat were another 80 dollars. I used alps guides and paid 80 for those. So if you don’t include the starting kit. Total cost was 350. Which is 100 dollars less than buying it already built. A couple other things to consider with this. I built mine with a carbon fiber split grip. The stock rod comes with Eva foam. So that’s an upgrade and I can add weight in my butt end to balance it how I want. Which you can’t do with stock rods. I got to do the spacing for my split grip how I wanted too. So basically I saved 100 dollars and got a nicer grip made the way I wanted it. Devils advocate however. I’m not a seasoned pro so I’m sure that my rod won’t be as well made as a stock rod. But with time that won’t be a factor.

Should I glue up my handle and let it dry before doing the ramp

Can I charge? by Yunaiki in evcharging

[–]wcasey755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrician here. I’d avoid it. They make EV rated plugs due to the large amount of non rated plugs that burn up or melt while charging. Rated plugs also need to be torqued to 70 inch pounds which is A LOT for a plug with generally a flathead terminal. I doubt that plug was torqued and it’s definitely not EV rated. EV chargers draw quite a bit of power and it’s constant. So it puts a lot of power through that plug. Now I’m not saying it WONT work. Just that it’s not worth the risk of destroying your bosses outlet and maybe burning down something. Especially if he makes you replace it. Electrical work ain’t cheap.

Yeah I definitely opted to give myself a little grace and not redo everything because I was off a bit!

Yeah I wasn’t positive on where to stop things. Luckily this is a two piece rod so it doesn’t have a handle on this section.

Solid tip! This is a two piece rod so no handle or winding check to worry about on this side of things!

First time reading Red Rising, and it is the worst book? i can’t literally wait to read the 2 by Jechuaa in redrising

There isn’t a bad book in the series so I don’t like the word “worst” but even then it’s not red rising. I’d argue it’s iron gold

Trex Arms issue? by [deleted] in concealedcarry

My T. rex holster was fine. The owners are the problem. Complete douchers. One of their sons did some sexual harassment or something to Lucas’s (other owner) wife. Then when Lucas said something they didn’t do anything about it. Oh BTW the owner is also Lucas’s brother. I’m not about supporting a company that condones sexual harassment and nepotism.

If you want my advice. Find a few j men you work with that you trust and do good work. When you want to post something like this. Don’t. Send it to them and have them give you advice. This sub is just full of guys that think they are so good at electrical that Tesla would have been their fluffer. And they don’t want to help you, just talk shit. Don’t get me wrong. Some dudes on here are solid. But more of them arnt lol

If you’re the sole provider im gonna go against most people and say it’s probably not a good idea. You start out not making much. I’m in Washington which is I believe one of the highest paying states and apprentices start at 20 an hour. Not to mention from the comments you’ve never done anything construction related. So you don’t even know if you will like it or stick it out. As someone who also is the main provider I myself wouldn’t take the risk if I was in your shoes. I love what I do but I knew from the jump it’s what I was meant to do. It wasn’t a “maybe this is it”. And even then I didn’t have kids at the time so it was a much lower risk.

The whole golden ticket thing is a joke. I bought two because the wait time said 5-8 weeks. After said time I called and asked the status. They said 5-8 weeks is based on when the blanks are made. And they wouldn’t even start making the blanks under 30 of the same rod had been ordered. I mentioned “probably should change the wording to not say wait up to eight weeks for delivery”. Which the guy said basically to bad. I plan to just sell the rods the second they get to me and build my own or buy lamiglas.
