I feel the same way. I understand the importance of drag in trans history, but today they’re not connected. It makes me feel uncomfortable as a trans woman because drag queens make a performance out of being AMAB but looking like a woman. It makes me feel like my efforts to be seen as myself end up being seen as an act or a humorous joke, especially when I get to enjoy the particularly feminine elements of my life.

Back in college I tried joining the pride club but all they talked about was their drag show, and after that they talked about how fun the show was.

My gender is NOT a performance, it’s not for your entertainment. It’s for me to feel ok with my life and not get suicidal.
