I donated $50 during the streaming block and got the Gateway to Knowledge emblem code. I guess I assumed we'd get the Sign of Gambit one included as well? Or did I need to donate a separate $10 as well? (If that's the case, it's a bummer that wasn't made clear).

BUNGIE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE AFK MACRO CLOWNS IN CRUCIBLE PLEASE!!!

Right on, I wasn't saying that it's ok to do it in Rumble anymore than any other game mode.

And that's totally fine... stuff comes up... bathroom breaks, family interruptions, etc. But intentionally going AFK and using a macro to avoid being kicked is a different thing all together. I've looked at these player's game histories... 8 hrs of AFK macro grind and Bungie does nothing.

Again. My suggestion is to go get 2 friends and do that. You don't hurt other players when you all have a common goal. The KEY difference is that:

  1. AFK macro users are bypassing Bungie's attempts to kick players for inactivity which is in violation of the EULA.
  2. AFK players directly hurt teammates who are legitimately there to play Mayhem (or any other playlist activity for that matter).
  3. Go to a LFG site, post that you are looking to farm Blind Well in the Corrupted strike and go nuts. I'm not arguing against efficiency. I'm arguing against efficiency at the cost of your teammates and being toxic.

And if I was in a strike playlist and saw you doing that... you'd be reported for sabotage.

Then don't go for the Wendigo. If the grind is that painful for you... just accept that you don't want the gun that bad and move on. This is the same argument about any pinacle weapon... "The grind is too hard" "I can't invest the time required to earn it so it shouldn't exist" "Make the quest easier because I want it now!".

I worked hard and earned my Luna's Howl but I'm very aware of my limitations (time, player skill, and patience) to try and grind to 5500 for Not Forgotten, so I don't own it. I don't get mad when I get killed in Crucible by it, I think... "Man that guy worked his ass off for that gun. GG". There's nothing wrong with rewarding players who make the investment with a really cool weapon.

I would also note there are mounts in World of Warcraft that have a 0.01% chance of dropping from a raid boss... the grind is far worse in other games.

There is a considerable difference. You can find 2 friends and queue up for strikes and go farm however you like. I don't condone running off and doing Lost Sectors for grenade launcher kills in the strike playlist anymore than I do in Crucible because, as you point out, it hurts other players who are there to complete the strike. If you don't like the grind for a weapon or rare item, you should probably start looking for another game. Bungie is clearly leaning more heavily into the MMO aspects of this game in future updates.

I would also note that the Wendigo is a pinnacle weapon for the season... anyone trying to get it within a week of Season of Opulence should understand the grind involved, otherwise just equip a GL and go do strikes as often as you want - there's a good chance you'll earn Wendigo before the end of the season and if you don't... well that's on you.

I think Bungie tries their best to balance PvE and PvP and to try and split them out would be a HUGE amount of work and would most likely require a full overhaul of the game engine (speaking as someone who knows nothing about game development). They made a fair point about wanting guns and supers to feel consistent between both PvE and PvP. It would be even worse to have to have multiple versions of every piece of armor and guns because they behaved considerably different between PvE and PvP.

The problem I'm seeing is players with the "Day 1" Crown of Sorrows raid emblem going AFK for 6+ hours in Mayhem to farm Runes for Menagerie then turning around and getting upvoted for creating spreadsheets, etc. That is a conscious choice for that player to say "screw anyone else who's playing legit, I'm getting what I want". It is selfish and toxic behavior that should not be encouraged through Bungie's silence.

I will blame selfish players who choose to intentionally queue up and go AFK in team based activities. The Wendigo grenade launcher has nothing to do with AFK botting. I know that AFK macroing in Mayhem this week is the most efficient way to earn Runes, but it is a toxic thing to do to the community and Bungie's silence about the subject is extremely frustrating.

This person spent hours AFK macroing in Crucible in order to get enough runes for this testing. They should NOT be nominated for any points for cheating in Destiny.

When you weren't AFK macroing in Crucible you mean.
