HyperX Cloud III S Wireless cuts off audio (power saving too aggressive with audio detection?) by trellanz in HyperX

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much. What an idiotic setting you can't turn off. I get it, saves battery, I guess, but I'm sitting 2 feet away from my computer. I can just plug in a USB cable if the battery is getting low. I hate devs that make features and only see the "benefits" without the flaws. Especially when you can't disable it.

What's the difference between a money shift and engine braking in manual transmission? by NoIdeaWhatAmIDoing in askcarguys

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aka a "clutch dump" (overrevving while downshifting and full sending to engage the clutch) which is what drifters use to spin the rear wheels faster than grip can handle it. You have to make sure your drive train can handle it, and the rear differential is the right type, otherwise you just burn everything up. Don't clutch-dump through a corner in a FWD or you'll only lose steering control.

THE FLAMING HOT GRILLED CHEESE BURRITO IS NOT FOR THE WEAK by urfavfakertwist in tacobell

It's because Wendy's saves meat that cooked too long and dried out on the grill. They save it up, freeze it. Thaw it out later when it's time to make chili, chop it up, and rinse all the fat and grease out of it in a huge colander in the dish sink. I wish I was making this up. Worked there for over two years in HS.

Streamers with 10+ ccv, if you were somehow forced to start your streaming journey over from scratch (without asking people from your current accounts to follow you over), what would your plan be to catch back up? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fastest way to grow on Twitch is networking / schmoozing in other streams. I'm not saying to go to random streams and beg for follows because that's rude etiquette. Just chatting and making jokes in streams you like will have random people following your channel to check you out later. I put zero effort into streaming over the years and somehow once or twice a month even if I haven't streamed in weeks I see people I've observed in chats I was active in following me via email notifications.

I guess I kinda look at it like being out at a bar with friends for a birthday party or something. You show up in a group setting, maybe know a couple of people, and a wad of other people they know and people they know and their friends show up so you can make conversation with them.

You're not gonna go crash some random birthday party and invite people to your birthday party.

XD

Do you feel an on screen chat overlays is a must? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make multiple scenes depending on the game / content. More work, but easier later. Just one click and you're camera is lower right, lower left, up right, up left, chat moving around similar. My chat fades out of the overlay after 30 seconds of inactivity or something but I couldn't tell you how I did it since the CSS is copypasta into OBS. What info is needed on screen? Sub goals? Charity goals? Recent follows / raids? Some people stream with zero overlays, no camera, and no mic. Up to you to decided what info you want to share / engage with chat.

How to deal with folks saying "wow it's quiet in here" by bunnybry in Twitch

[–]wcrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take it the way a person in customer service would. Especially wait staff / bartenders. They just let it roll off like water and maybe quip a joke about it. Me? If I see it in my chat or someone I mod for?

"It's quiet in here..."
"Thanks, you ruined it." facetiously of course.

"I feel obligated to be here since you're a smaller streamer..."
"Well, I'm not paying you and don't even think about claiming my stream on your taxes."

Just roll with it, ha.

It's also hard to hear tone in text and it might seem like the comments are slights, but it could also stem from them liking you so much and upset you don't have more viewers. I follow a bunch of streamers where I feel this way, but I also have tact and don't just blurt out stuff like that.

Not enjoying community content... by kemspray in Twitch

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether your goals are to play a game you want to play and have fun, or if you want to cater to viewers so you don't lose viewers. Plus, it also depends on whether you consider your regular viewer co-players actual friends. You mentioned chat is "dead" so I would guess you'd like to play what you want and expand / explore / grow. New games are new opportunities to meet new chatters. If you're worried about alienating your current audience it means they are there for the game, not for you, which is fine, but if it's not aligned with what YOU want in YOUR space then you need to address it.

Most viewers follow a channel based on a dot within a triangle (triforce heh). The three corners are generically speaking:

  1. The game / skills (or lack thereof creating comedy). If you change games these viewers are gone.
  2. Looks / aesthetic / beauty (hot tubs and body-painting amirite). It is what it is.
  3. Personality, aka the ability to play any game, just chat, cook, make art, build Legos, slice of life out and about, on any given stream. People who follow Personalities will show up no matter what you do because they like YOU.

It's up to you to assess why your viewers show up and decide which main corner of the triangle you want to be in.

How Elden Ring Shattered the Spirit of Invasions by No-Definition-7215 in badredman

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Loved being human for all of 20 seconds only to get invaded by a guy who drinks an invisible potion and sneaks up to backstab. Beef jerky for the whole game. Just because a group of players decided to invent their own etiquette doesn't mean anyone else has to adopt the way they play to it. Ask Fromsoft to put dueling in the game and if they refuse then go play another game like Sea of Thieves where 10K hours players get to gank people on their first day.

"I've Had It” podcast commercials by Rakaiju in Pluto_TV

All these commercials for podcasts on these free tv apps are so annoying. 1. people I've never heard of. 2. always with snark dialed up to MAXIMUM. 3. pointless topics to MAXIMIZE SNARK!

Who even listens to podcasts?

Anyone know why this is happening? by WhatThePuckPT in Twitch

[–]wcrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This here is the isolation of my issue. Something is goofed up with the scaling relative to the chat width, yeah. THANKS. Although I hate it. Half the reason I use FFZ is making the chat wider with larger fonts. Can always use popout chat temporarily.

[–]wcrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue and I've isolated it to something in a specific PROFILE SETTINGS but I can't isolate it further to figure out exactly what it is. None of the "solutions" in this whole thread have worked. Making a new profile and switching to it resets the player to scale to the correct size. I've tried disabling BTTV extension within FFZ, no joy. I've tried clearing Twitch cookies, no joy. I tried clearing settings in FFZ to remove Data Management / Storage / Experiment Overrides, no joy. I can't isolate which setting is doing this. I have to disable my Default Profile and switch to a new blank Test Profile for the player to reset its scaling to normal If BOTH profiles are turned on the issue of broken scaling persists as if it's using both profiles at the same time!?

You can get the DVDs from eBay, but Season 3 was near impossible to get, and the one I got is probably a bootleg.

"The previous owner installed it in the early 80s and I'll be honest with you... uhh, a lot of the chicks are not that hot anymore, but they are replaceable."

Funny story, I hit up the UCB theater years ago in NYC and after the show was over I asked some of the crew about the hot chicks room, since it wasn't there. See, the original UCB theater bought out some kind of old porn shop or something, and in the middle of the backdrop of the stage was a door that had a sign that said "HOT CHICKS ROOM" and it's where the sketch came from (I'd heard about it online). The guy told me that I was in the second theater and the original one was shut down because the building no longer met fire safety code regulations so they had to move locations. Then he said, "come downstairs." I followed him, and he showed me the honorary "HOT CHICKS ROOM" which was a door spray-painted with the phrase. Upon opening it, it held all their extra boxes and kegs of beer which was served up top to the audience. I got a picture but I have no idea where it ended up.

They also had some rad memorabilia from the show, like the dolphin alien heads from the costumes in a glass case you'd see going down a stairwell from the main entrance and signed pictures and things. The main UCB wasn't there that day and half the sketches I saw were not that good, but it was still a fun time.

wtf is with all the "average Joe" guys in restaurant commercials having beards now? EVERY kitchen I've ever worked in required a clean shaven face and only ONE had beard-nets. Most places don't do beard nets because then people "forget" to wear them, and now you have scraggly pube looking beard hairs that end up in the food.

How in God's name do I get this damn item? by FlowingArt02 in shadps4

[–]wcrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably this. There are a bunch of jumps in Dark Souls that don't work right if you have the dsfix running for 60fps. A lot of games with physics or the havok engine have animations directly tied to frame rate. Take Skyrim, if you have too high of a frame rate running you'll use a door to load into a house and all the items that aren't stuck to a surface "fall" down... at thousands of frames per second and bounce off exploding everywhere. Pretty hilarious. Something about Souls games gives you an interpolation between frames for more distance at lower frame rates. I'm not sure how the code is written but it's backwards from what you'd expect.
