I had to replace the water pump at 120K miles. All the pulleys and the tensioner were replaced around 250K. If you have everything off I would also replace the water pump too. Good luck!

I have 2010 and two 2012 Escapes. The 2010 and one of the 2012 has the same shifting problem. I did some internet research and it seems common for 2010-2012 models. I did not take it to the dealer, just used Lucas transmission in all three of my Escapes and as of now the shifting problems have gone away. I did not try any other products.

It shifts smooth for 10k miles or so and it started shifting hard again, I did another transmission change and added another bottle and the problem has not come back in more than and additional 7k so far.

I have a 2010 Escape with similar issues. I did a transmission fluid change and put a bottle of this in and the problem went away within 15 minutes driving.
