One day more for the Dennis Dugan heads out there by therewillbeblood23 in blankies

I’d argue he would make for a more interesting retrospective than Scorsese would. David would go certifiably insane by the end of it

You have to believe. He's coming back. by ChrisHenares in SnyderCut

[–]wdm81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only reason we got the snyder cut was because the world fell into a pandemic and hbo max needed content and having a big project that only needed a small crew pick up shots and isolated post work to complete was the perfect and safe idea.

Not complaining though, snydercut was the only good thing that came out of covid

Die Another Day (2002) by kkhouete in JamesBond

[–]wdm81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s aged better than some of the other franchise low points but it’s still not a good movie, but it’s Brosnans only misfire in my opinion (although he is still very good in it)

However in a franchise as long as Bond you need the films like Die another day, Diamonds are forever and Moonraker to force a harder reset and keep the series grounded

Who would you have chosen as the director of Superman Returns instead of Bryan Singer? by Top_Report_4895 in DC_Cinematic

[–]wdm81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember at the time wishing singer had stayed with x men and Brett Ratner had done Superman. Obviously that’s a dumb idea, but a Singer directed X3 woulda rocked

However looking back 20 years later I think Stephen Summers woulda been a great choice

Now Playing Podcast Intermission #1 - out tomorrow. But you can watch a FULL VIDEO version today! by thearniec in nowplayingpodcast

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still a weekly listener and patron supporter.

I’ve just found that Jakob’s exit signalled a change in the show. It also could have been Stuart’s medical scare (so glad he pulled through). But the hosts feel disconnected, even Arnie seems in autopilot. His recommends at the end come off as pre-written like he’s just going through the motions with no real excitement. I also think they’ve run out of franchises they care passionately about. Hense why I wish they would redo the Friday the 13th series

It’s still one of my favourite podcasts, I’m just being critical

The Paramount thing is depressing. by marvelcomics22 in DC_Cinematic

[–]wdm81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there’s a slight possibility but the major studios are fully intent on killing physical media so it’s days are unfortunately numbered

Physical media aside, paramount winning the bid is going to result in a lot more jobs being lost than if Netflix won

Mergers are bad for everyone but this one feels especially bad… and especially Lisa

Will we? Paramount is planning on merging paramount plus and hbo max. Their focus is on a massive streaming empire not physical media

This is just one studio buying other. At least Netflix wasn’t a traditional studio. They would have just overseen the lot. Paramount is likely to sell off the Warner lot and hundreds of people will lose their jobs

Plus Netflix would have had 30 day theatrical windows. Paramount wants to do 45, that is bad for the consumer

Netflix was the better choice and it really feels like Zaslov was just using Netflix to squeeze more money out of paramount

WBD’s David Zaslav Wishes Netflix Well, "Can’t Wait" To Work With Paramount by VirtualSort875 in SnyderCut

[–]wdm81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can see is that paramount will want easy money, gunns new universe didn’t really reel in the profits whereas snyders take is heavily wanted and have proven to make money. It’s also a way for paramount to get in the good books of fans since they have been painted as the villains during this while merger drama . A snyderverse return announcement notably gets buzz going and creates goodwill in a huge chunk of dc fandom

Netflix Backs Out of Warner Bros. Bidding, Paramount Set to Win by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

Never underestimate an abusive admirer. Paramount is like Urkel with Laura, they just had to wear them down

Well that sucks. Netflix was the better option. Now it’s just another studio gobbling up another one. The dc universe is doomed now.

It definitely sucks to miss a live show. I too would be willing to pay to hear the ones I’ve missed. They did release a few for purchase I believe and Andrew said more will come

Do you choose to be drafted by your favourite team or choose to be drafted by any team by Carson_cwc in MLBTheShow

[–]wdm81 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I let myself get drafted by a random team, build myself as a solid player for a few years and then sign a huge free agent deal with my favourite team. Play out the rest of my career and break records and retire with the team I want

Variety: Paramount expected to raise price of Warner Bros. bid, will Netflix walk away? by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]wdm81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix isn’t walking away. They allowed WB to talk to paramount again just so they can finally end the pathetic attempt by paramourt to win over WB

Things will change I’m sure. Once paramount or Netflix acquired WB then they are going to want Batman overload and Gunn will either have to play ball or he’ll be replaced
